Been putting it off but after 5 years of hard use my Kaibabs were showing their age. I sent them in hoping I might get lucky and get a new pair sent back (happened with my Nikon's). I didn't get a new set but they replaced everything except the housing and set to factory specs. Spent $27 in shipping/insurance and got back all new glass in my original housing. Less than 2 week turn around. I'm happy with that! Just thought I'd share for anyone thinking about giving new life to old glass, send em in!

I used the wheeler scope mounting kit on my latest gun (new tikka) and my boys hand me down (Remington 721) with a new scope. Lapped the rings (both Leupold) and set the torque on the screws to specs. I'm not much of a gun guy but I did this for peace of mind to leaving no excuses for accuracy issues. Both guns are shooting sub moa with factory ammo so it didn't hurt.

Just bought a bow that came with this sight and I want to change to a 5 or 7 pin. Gently used by previous owner with minor wear at mounting locations and a tiny ding on the front green ring. $100 OBO. Located in SW phx.

Went with a Spott Hogg Hogg-It 5 pin lg housing with the wrap. Top 2 pins are .19, other 3 are .10. Thx for the recommendations!

Thx for the replies. I've narrowed it down to MBG and Spott Hogg. Playing catchup learning about this (new to me) tech...dovetail mount, 3rd axis, etc. And they have a lot of new models out for 2017 without much review. The SDP7 is on sale now but worried it might be a little crowded with all those pins. Leaning 5 pin but still undecided.

I spent a little time trying to call the lion in but had to prioritize my time to the sheep hunting. The AZGFD lion guy was advised but I'm not sure if they got in there to get him as they had other cats to deal with.

Delivered as promised! With the rest, stabilizers, and sight I'm happy with my purchase. Under budget but still need a quiver and arrows.

Curious about anyones experience buying bows on archery talk, eBay etc. I'm in the market, and looking at it I could get a lot more bow for my $ buying 1 or 2 years old used. Some almost seem too good to be true and AT has a giant thread of blacklisted scammers which makes me little leary about forking over $700-$1k in an online private sale. Haven't decided on brand yet but seeing some good deals on a variety of bows.

Edit: TH unless my phone is bugging I guess u deleted ur post which makes my response confusing. So everyone understands he asked if ur supposed to be able to tell the age based on the illustrations I posted from clinic materials. TH and to anyone interested: Thats simply what they provide in their education materials for age classes at the clinic - obviously a little contradictory. U probably know already that the # of growth rings are the best guess as to age and those can be disputed depending on who's counting. We agreed with what game and fish counted on checkout. My goal was to kill a class IV, whether he ended up a class IV or not doesn't really matter to me at this point as the trigger has been pulled and the tag punched. Maybe we can get an official clarification for u future tag holders!

So I went back through my sheep seminar materials and found these 2 separate references to age classification...

Thx for the tips. The right deal popped up on AT today and I jumped on it. Seller had positive feedback, answered all of my questions and sold at a very fair price. 2016 Hoyt Defiant Turbo with sight, rest, and stabilizer shipping tomorrow. Providing the bow shows up as promised I'll should be very happy with my AT purchase.

My son doesn't want to go Elk Hunting!!!

I have a dairy hook up for Eurasian doves in SW phx. If u think that might help we can set somethin up. 200 rounds through a shot gun is a lot of fun. Might be a stepping stone to other hunting. -
I don't know what I want yet. I'm hoping to start test driving brands this weekend to see what I like. My all inclusive budget NEW may limit me to something mid tier like a Hoyt PowerMax but USED I might be able get last years top tier flagship for the same price. I know that I want to try the carbon bows but also know that brand new that they're above my budget. With an early bull tag it's time to retire the 2005 Hoyt UltraMag...

2007 Polaris ranger 700 EFI low mile and hour

Bump. I have the same rig browning edition that I bought with about the same hours/mileage 4 years ago and it's been a tank. Good price too. -
Got my 1st archery bull tag. Need equipment advice
KaibabHunter replied to DUG's topic in Elk Hunting
Early hunts are long days. Last year HyNoon and I averaged 7-9 miles a day I think with a 0330 wake up and a rough 5 mile ranger ride in, back in camp around 9-10 pm. Chased bugles in the morn, sat wallows mid day or checked new areas for sign, and chased again in the evening or sat a tank. Ended up finding a tank getting hit hard, sat it and he killed his first bull on day 8. Could've killed smaller bulls sooner but passed. I take the whole 2 weeks off to hunt. Mind the wind. -

There's no way an elk tag is going to waste in our house, maybe a javelina but not elk/deer. I impress on my boys that $ has already been invested and they have a special opportunity to help the family by providing meat. They take pride in helping put food on our table. My youngest listed that on his letter to Santa this year as one of the good things he did. They are expected to put forth the effort (10%) and I put forth the effort (90%) to make it fun and hopefully successful. Some things I've done that help...my oldest said he wanted a "sniper rifle" - camo pattern, scope, bipod - he thinks he's a sniper. Both boys love to deck out in full camo which is easy to accommodate. If we sit a blind I bring a portable charger and let em have the phone. I tell them that if they give me the first and last 3 hours of the day we can do what they want in the middle. I keep em warm - cold (and bugs) seems to kill their stamina/motivation. We camp in the summer in the unit we pull tags so we can scout, hang t cams, and let them drive the ranger a little. Bows, BB guns, candy, portable DVD player, rifle practice, land navigation/survival training, and campfires to keep em having fun. He'll come around once u get him out there. -
