Here are a couple of great bucks that I just finished up as well as a nice 3 point. The hard horned 4X5 came from southern Arizona and the velvet bucks came from central AZ.

Here is a female Canadian Grizzly we just finished up. She isn't the largest grizzly we have done, but she probably has the prettiest hair of any bear that has come through the shop. Here a couple of photos that show Phil's bear mount a little better.

Dale is correct about the preservation methods of velvet antlers. There is no real way to totally preserve them and prevent bugs from possibley getting to them, but with a little maintentance there should not be a problem. I use the freeze dry method for preserving the antlers that come into my shop because I like the fact that it creates minimal shrinkage. I soak all antlers in a strong borax solution prior to running them in the freeze dryer. Then after they are mounted I rub some powdered borax down into the velvet. Borax is a natural bug repelent and helps to deter bugs. This is something everybody should do to their velvet antlers once a year in my opinion. It only takes about 10 minutes and borax is readily available at most stores as a laundry booster. I recommend people dust and groom their mounts once a year and this is a good time to give their velvet antlers a good borax rubdown. Here are a couple of photos of our friend Larry Smith from Kansas with his coues deer he harvested in Mexico a couple of weeks ago. Larry was part of our group that went down and he was lucky enough to take this buck which is one of three our group harvested with 4 points plus eyeguards. Larry had Hunter Haynes with him spotting and also was lucky enough to have Hunter pack his buck out. Here are a couple of photos of the buck that I harvested in Mexico last week. I had seen this buck two days before and wasn't able to get close enough for a shot before he went over the mountain. Two days later he was on the same face with his two does and I was able to close to 350 yards and make a clean kill. Unfortunately, he took a long tumble down a steep slope and broke off both of his eyeguards. We knew what his eyeguards were and with that estimate he grosses 111 7/8. Here is a great ram taken by Jerry H. and guided by Matt Dominy of Kofa Outfitters. This is the largest ram on record taken from 16A. Here is the buck taken by the governor's tag holder this past January. I finished the mount up a while back and I am finally getting around to posting it. This buck was taken with Mossback Arizona and has a gross score of 131 5/8 and nets 120 7/8 typical. This is one of those unusual bucks that would make all time Boone and Crockett as either a typical or nontypical. View the full article

Here are Phil T. and Mattew P.'s bucks that they killed last season on the San Carlos. They always wanted to do a double mount with their bucks and finally were able to get two bucks worthy of it. Check out this buck that Bill B. took a couple of days ago in central AZ. The photos don't even do this buck justice. He has great length everywhere with average mass but he is so long he looks thin. This is one of the most symetrical, big Coues bucks I have ever put my hands on. This buck will gross score close to 122" and has only 1" of total deductions and will probably net right around 120" as a three point. Congratulations Bill! View the full article

Actually he is not spindlyl, but his length makes him look that way. He has a little over 12" per side, so average mass. The photos don't show him very well, but when we have the mount finished I'll post some photos that will show him better.

Come on now, we are still west of the Mississippi, this is not an eastern count, lol. At least nobody is calling it an 8 pointer.

Here are a couple of photos of a buck that friend Cody Nelson of The Outdoorsmans just harvested this morning. Cody Nelson and friend Cody Goff have been working this buck the past couple of days and were finally able to put everything together and harvest him. Customer Jimmy J. just finished his hunt north of the Arctic Circle. He was able to harvest a nice Arctic caribou and a muskox. The muskox make super neat and unusual mounts. We will post photos when we have his completed. He flew into a remote village and then had a 70 mile snowmobile ride to reach the hunting grounds. As you can see it was very cold even this early in the fall. Put on your heated socks and underwear for this hunt! View the full article

Here is the mount we just finished of Ernie Bunch's ram from December 2011. Ernie hunted with Goef Moss of Little Horn Outfitters. This ram gross scored 180 4/8 even with the brooming on his right side which he did not to long before the hunt. Goef has many good photos of this ram before he broomed and I think he was pushing the mid 180's then. View the full article

I was fortunate to draw an Arizona antelope tag this year and I opted to sign it over to my daughter Hannah. After several scouting trips we were having a hard time finding many antelope and not any mature bucks. When the hunt finally opened we were fortunate to find a couple of bucks that Hannah wanted to try for, but after three botched stalks things weren't looking to promising. On Monday we were able to get on this buck as he was tending his hot doe and we waited him out until he pushed his doe up into a little draw. We were able to sneak up to the head of the draw and Hannah made a clean heart shot at 180 yards. It was a reminder to me that when you are running out of confidence, persistence usually pays off. Here is a mount I just finished recently of an old coues buck. The hunter had been seeing this buck for the past three years and finally was able to take him this past October. He was apparently tucked away in some out of the way spot where he saw few humans. The buck had no front teeth left and his molars were worn down to the gumline. It is rare to see a deer get this age anymore with all the hunting pressure they receive. Despite his lack of teeth, he was healthy and had a larger than average body size. The hunter found one of the buck's sheds from a couple of years prior and he wanted it with the mount, so this is what I put together for him. View the full article
