If that’s the case, Don’t you guys think it’s kinda weird that they’ve been counting on these private funds to pay for everything all these years while also also collecting millions from the public and not putting it aside for wildlife projects?

They already have raised fees. Is azgfd really hurting for money that they need to fire people to do drinker projects, wildlife relocations?

The G&F dept is more than just Elk, Sheep, Deer that we hunt. We hunters just foot the bill for the majority of their expenses.
Just look at the recent facebook posts about donating so they can manage some night lizards. 😂

But why would the projects stop, because azgfd won’t allocate funds for them?

Are they going to raise fees on tags and licenses to be able to do that? Where would they get  funds from? Cut employees? 🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. I used to think like a lot of guys on this forum until I was invited to attend a monthly meeting of one of the wildlife groups. Man it opened my eyes quite a bit and changed my way of thinking. These projects are not cheap to do and a lot goes into the planning and getting approvals for the projects. It also feels good to volunteer on these projects with the sheep society, meeting a lot of great people and going around the state seeing new country and places I probably wouldnt ever go to.

Pretty sure there was a group that tried that already and it went over like a turd in a punch bowl.

What is going to stop them this time? The commission is doing whatever they want. The public comments are just the dog and pony show.

That’s a good point.  If they could continue the raffles via the banquets that would really get people excited.  My guess is they’re gonna switch to many more raffle tags to replace the funding from the auction tags.  I bet that’s why they were testing the water with those special allocation tags last year.  I’m all for any of that type of raffle where you can raise way more money then a particular tag is “worth”.

Then you'll hear people saying that taking more tags away for raffles is a money grab.

I asked on a g&f post about those raffle tags if the money went to the HPC fund and I didnt get an answer.

The mule deer tag just auctioned off for $625k. That is going to take a lot of raffle tickets to make up for that.

I highly respect you, but don't believe everything you here. Can I ask why it matters so much. And I am surprised for once its not money first with the Game and fish. There's plenty of money just mismanaged by people who don't care about hunters or animals. Jim G.  has help a lot. Again nothing but respect and I'm normally wrong.

I could be wrong too, only an audit of where funds actually go would tell the truth. I know where its supposed to go though. Lol

I care which doesn't matter, the rich get the auction tags and the guides who block off roads and have 30 none hunting gumbies on every point .  I have 28 points for antilope and 25 for Bighorn and will probably never get drawn, but being I'm poor I will keep trying and buying raffle tags I know ill never win. And you really think this money goes to the animals , I say it goes to administration and lawsuits. So in my opinion only Jimmy John and Gallo can donate the money if they love the animals that much, and put in like the rest of us. On that now bring the HATE. Im ready

Wrong! The money goes into a HPC fund which can only be used for certain things, like water catchments and such

They laid out a pretty good estimate of how much the raffles will bring in using past numbers. For all animals but elk, sheep, and mule deer raffles make more money than the auction and for the big three auctions make more but it wasn't a ton more. They also talked about there being a way to switch it back to allowing out of staters to buy tickets. All in all the overall amount of money from auctions doesn't make that much more than raffles so the way I see it, let an average guy have a chance at a once in a lifetime tag instead of the millionaires that can go on any hunt they want in the world every single year.

We have a chance, its called the Super raffle or whatever the name it is now.

  9. Huge disappoint in my mind. I am all for the current state of Auction tags, there isnt a need for more, just keep what they have now.

The current state of raffles isnt going to come close to what the auction tag raises. Especially since they recently changed it to having to be inside the state to purchase tickets. Maybe im wrong but I just dont see it without them adding a bunch more raffle tags.
