Hello.... finally had time to get on and post something after awhile. Well I was drawn for 13A and had to break away from guiding. Lol. To fill my tag. Weather was warm and no ruttin action. After 4 days of not even seeing a buck I decided I couldn't pass on this one and the only one buck we saw. I totally misjudged him for the mule deer bodies on the strip are a lot bigger than the average Muley. This buck was actually bedded at 0700 in the morning which gave me time to set up for a shot and the closest I could get was 425 yards. Settled in prone and touched it off hitting him quartering away. Buck runs 50 yards and crashes. After walking up to him I knew we had something special that was pushing the magic number. After packing out and getting into camp we put the magic tape on him and he grossed 202. Hope you all enjoy the pics and God bless ur holiday season. Stay safe and have fun. Happy New 2017 Hunting Year!!! We started out with 2 really good bucks here on the Rez. First buck was shot at 500 yards in Unit B and gross scores 118 1/8. 2nd buck was a challenging hike in the rock cliffs and well worth it with a 150 yard shot. Buck scores 121 which is very uncommon for the unit we were hunting which was unit D. Very blessed to hunt with these individuals and tag some great coues. Still great unit to hunt.... just quality was down for couple years. This is the biggest buck I've seen in that Unit since I've been born. lol. Lots of cuts, canyons and basins where they hang out. Gotta hunt hard.

They sell maps at the game and fish that are ok. If u want to get serious I can supply topo maps of D. Good luck on your hunt. Been seeing a lot more coues than years prior. Should be good. I'll be there mid January chasing a trophy been I've been watching.

Looking for any size mule deer cape or hide. Doesn't matter if fur is on or off. It's for a special purpose. I need it by end of 2moro. Thanks.

Finally went fishing at SC lake today. I only live down the road but found time to head out with my two boys. We caught 2 bass and 2 catfish off the shore using jiggs, and worms. Both bass about 2lbs each and channel cats about 5-6 pounds a piece. Spent about 4 hours fishing. Tons of carp. Water temp seems lil cold for this time of year. I figure another week should pick up. Good luck fisherman who try the waters. Also I noticed water lil murky the further east of the lake. Stayed away from there for now.

Congrats again to Terry. I was fortunate to hold the rack and talk with him about the experience. He's definitely a guy I see in the field a lot and he loves to hunt. Truly a mellow guy. Everything in hunting has a reason to happen. And regardless rich, poor, or just enjoying the great outdoors, it's the love of the hunt and experience. He deserved to take a God blessed creature like that.

I believe baiting isnt legal here on the San Carlos... I don't know much of why they changed the bear hunt to guide required. Should be hunters preference if he chooses a guide or not.

If you were to look up an image of a perfect typical coues buck it would be Mervins buck... awesome job. Looks like good mass on the bucks down there this year

Just found out that the Tribe will require guides for the all Bear Hunts.

Shot a good buck on the last day on the last hour in Unit D this past Sunday... was a tough hunt, and seen tons of good coues country... was definitely an adventure.

Lots of small bucks. We did catch one good buck but not able to turn him up again. Heard 2 guys did well opening day.

Not true... Misprint on the rules and regs. Only in certain areas will require a guide R100 and trophy hunts as well as sheep hunts. Wouldn't be enough guides to cover that for all hunts

Rez Buck... 124 and some change...this year

I was fortunate enough to join the Auction Tag Winner for the San Carlos Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Hunt 2015. The hunter, Caesar Fonte was looking to completing his slam, and also to join the 700 club. I picked the 2 worst days to hunt, but with persistence and patience we were able to connect on this 180 class ram. Caesar made an incredible shot at 350 yards with sleet and winds topping 30-40MPH crosswind. Huge and deep respect for the animal and also for the hunt itself. Special thanks to my bro Randy Hopkins, Daniel Juan for the help with the hunt on this ram and also the San Carlos Game and Fish Department for an awesome management system to provide high quality game every year..... attached are couple of photos harvested, and when he was alive pre scouting...
