NM 16B Scouting Pics.. Elk and Bears
huntjunkie replied to jamaro's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Good to see the animals are doing well considering the drought and fire. -
Sounds like it might be time for new boots. 3 yrs ago in preperation for a 10 Day wilderness I went to over 10 different stores in different states searching for the "MY" perfect boot. Coupled with research on line I finally found it. Through that I learned that the Danner Pronghorns I had were not the boot for me. When I tell people I had trouble with em they look at me like I'm from a different planet! Everyone's foot is different so you need to find what's right for your foot not what's popular. I know this thread is about socks but some boots just won't work no matter what kind of sock or how many you wear. It sounds like it could be a boot problem. I was definitely in denal with my pronghorns, there one of the best right? Not knocking em. As for socks I only wear smart wool, high quality. Nothing else!!! Yea their $15+ a pair but when your hunt is ruinined because you can walk, now which is more expensive! Anyway sorry for the long write up hope this helps. Good luck! I know a good place you might sell those boots! Lol!

Never hunted there but I have had good luck in NM getting accurate information from wildlife biologist and G&F officers. Their intel has been spot on. If ya haven't, give em a call.

July 27 @ 4:59:59 pm. They'll hit the send key as they run out the door for the weekend. Because they don't want to answer the phone when the website bogs down or crashes AGAIN.... -
I have a pic of a spike (elk) that has one on the side of his face the size of a large grapefruit. I'll see if I can find it. Nasty stuff!!

Need trigger job on T.C pro hunter
huntjunkie replied to AZBUCKEYE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
No didn't file anything. I got the 3 1/2lb and the 3lb. Didn't know which one I would like better so I bought both. If i remember they were about $10 each. I like the 3lb best. Anything less I believe u have to change the hammer spring to. Which isn't a bad idea because the dang hammer is really stiff with the scope in the way. Especially when I'm not the shooter. -

I'm up there every other week or so. The blue is extremely dry! Obviously the monson will change that. Alpinebullwinkle is right. I'll also add that because of all the barely the FS dropped to prevent erosion has seeded again. So the elk have unlimited feed. They don't have to feed in their "usuall spots" the just feed anywere. good example are the resident bulls they come for a few days and leave for a week or two. The antler growth should be pretty good. The good news is glassing opportunities are much better in the really bad burn areas. Good luck, that is a great tag!

Need trigger job on T.C pro hunter
huntjunkie replied to AZBUCKEYE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I did a trigger job on my daughters TC pro hunter 2 years ago. I had never done one before but it was very easy. I called and ordered 2 trigger springs and a trigger spring plier(a must have, $20) from Mike Bellm. He lives in Grand Junction CO. He was very helpful! The factor trigger was ridiculous and holes were all over the target. The difference after the trigger job was amazing! If you have any questions call me 480-688-9404 Here's his website bellmtcs.com -
Been there, the food was great! I had the buffalo meatloaf. I completely agree Chef. The collection of trophies are amazing. I think i spent more time looking at the trophies than conversing with my wife and friends who took me there for my birthday. Bad form on my part.Oh well..... The bears alone are worth more than my house! Not really, but you know what I'm saying.

Wow!! That story is awesome! Sorry that it was half gone. Looks like a really nice sow!

Heres the culprit! This bear found my deer before I could get it out. I left to pack the first load out and when I returned I found him having dinner. So I did the smart thing and..... I stalked within 15 yards while he was eating. Hearing him snap the ribs as he would break them off sounded like a 22 shot. Then hearing him chew the bones.... oh man! I had a archery tag but guess what i packed out in the first load? Yep. My bow. Love the color. Looks like he has socks on the front paws. I hope we meet again in Sept.

My Deer, well whats left!

You can shoot it. I'll even do all the work(scouting etc..) heck I'll skin it and pack it out. But you have to use a bow. Lol! Your probably shakin right now! -

Thanks, I didn't need another taxidermy bill at that time anyway. Depends on who you ask and what you consider bait(as we have seen several times on this forum) lol. Did i intend it to be bait? It was my deer, I planned on eating it. Im sure GF has a different opinion. Thats fine. I don't need " bait" I've got several pics of him. He's a frequent visitor on my cams. -
May consider other models. Thanks
