Sounds like one side of a 2 sided story. I have no dog in this fight but lol at blaming not getting the deer because of a phone call. I mean really?

Never blamed not killing that buck because of a phone call...   just showing how low Duane will stoop to throw block on somebody...

Were you with them on the hill at the time?

    A phone call?

I was not on the hill with them.  And yes a phone call was made to Ben about optic pricing.....   who the heck calls about optic pricing when your in the middle of trying to kill a deer????    Duane was trying to throw block on Ben because he knew it was a matter of time...   like I said.  Low budget!

So it sounds like Duwanes guys knew where the buck was and Ben did as well. 2 outfitters now after a particular buck in a particular area. While it is shitty luck for Ben Duwanes shooter was at the right place at the right time. And Ben's spotter being on the buck don't mean crap when two different outfitters are on the same deer.

Don't think whether he knew about it before A3 is even relevant, someone close to him did know. End of story.

Clearly this statement shows either your very rookie or have been brought up very wrong with a mentality of "whatever it takes". Look at the story between Jake Lindsay and Roger Cook.   Roger did the right thing with that 120"+ deer.   Roger had all rights to kill that buck but he did the right thing!   We could use more people like that clearly!

What did Duane do wrong? He was with the guys that had originally found the buck wasn’t he?

Come on man!!  What'd he do wrong?   Dude when someone is on a buck..  the last thing you do is climb a hill somebody is already on, come up with a bs story asking which big buck they're hunting and then camp on top of that person then shoot the buck.. not to mention the bs phone call to Ben that Duane made about optic pricing while Ben was getting his hunter on a different knob to relocate the deer..(mind you Duane knew ben was out there and on this buck!).  Everything Duane did was very toxic and low budget!

Stand by buddy... these guys are just getting started. Some of CWT's finest haven't arrived yet... Ed F

I personally know the biologist who looked at the deer after it was killed.  Like it's been said before, that metatarsal gland screams hybrid...  but your right, nothing's certain till it gets tested...

Did A3 know of the buck before Ben gave them the heads up?

A3 did not know about this deer until Ben got into contact with them.  Chad Rhotons brother Bryan is a tag holder and that's the only reason why A3's name is apart of this...  Ben had his team put together to kill this buck for Bryan.

Already confirmed by two biologists that it's a hybrid. Why is this even part of the discussion anymore? Unless you're trying to tell Duwane to STOP telling everyone, including his hunter, that it's a Coues buck?

Colt Yount found the buck and hunted the buck back in November unsuccessfully. He planned on hunting the buck again this year, I'm sure. That was until they (Duwane, Shane, Colt, or whoever) found out that A3 was requesting permits to guide in a specific area asap where this buck happened to live. Clearly someone else (we'll call him Ben) had found the buck, was planning on selling him to the auction hunter, and A3 was bringing said hunter to hunt it. That's when Colt gave Shane "permission" to take Duwane's hunter (the raffle tag holder, Tol) in there to hurry and kill it before A3 did. Up until that point, Duwane wasn't even hunting the buck. So the race begins...

Several days later, and a couple of days of unsuccessfully hunting the buck, the buck is found again by one of Ben's friends. Ben and the hunter are now on their way around to the side of the mountain that the buck is on to shoot it. Meanwhile, Duwane pulls up with his hunter and walks right up to the hill where the spotter is and tries to BS with Ben's friend. Ben's friend makes it clear to Duwane that they're already on the buck. Duwane then tries the old "yeah, but which big buck? There's two big bucks in here" trick. A short while later, and after a random phone call made to Ben by Duwane about optics, Duwane's guide (assuming it was Shane) happens to glass the buck up in the flats. And the rest is history.

This is why nobody wants to talk about it:

#1 it's a hybrid (which doesn't mean it shouldn't be talked about, per se'), just NOT a full-blooded Coues Whitetail deer

    #2 Duwane's a snake

    #3 Change my mind

    And the truth is out...

  9. Yes absolutely. The way you put it in context. Maybe a simple Rest In Peace or something along those lines...   I know your political views and why this was driven but c'mon set them aside and honor the man.   Fought for our country and just battled the worst thing known to man kind! CANCER!

  10. Generally speaking Im not a big fan of new/more laws, but something has to be done to increase opportunity. If we cant recruit new hunters the sport will never survive and how are you supposed to recruit new hunters in a state that takes 10 bonus points to shoot anything with antlers? Ive read enough griping on this site and others about point creep and draw odds to feel like its pretty generally accepted its getting harder and harder to get any tag much less good ones. Only way thats going to change is if they start making moves to reduce success rates so they can allow more tags to go out.

No matter what they do theyre going to piss some people off and get flamed over it.

That last sentence to reduce success rates to allow more tags might be the dumbest thing I've read all year!! Makes zero sense If people want to hunt, take a number and wait like the rest of us. Then again most of these "hunters" just can't wait to get a grip and pic for their social media since hunting is the new "cool" thing...
