Go check it out. Picking up sheds should be a good indicator of what's still roaming the hills.

Congrats! Killing deer with a bow is tough.

Lance, don't Jaguars eat wildcats? Be careful out there. Packer is correct. And actually of 65 AQ teams, 43 made a BCS game at some point during the 15 year BCS era. ASU and UA are right up there with Northwestern, Minnesota, and Vanderbilt. That is seriously depressing. What a sad state of football.

**Lets here your thoughts about new paper tags AND tags being withheld till jan1. :)
Flatlander replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
Selling tags at dept offices only, that's BS and unreasonable. Giving out paper tags to some folks and adhesive to others, who flipping cares. For most of us, a dept office was not a long drive and with a little prior planning could be achieved without major issue. It was inconvenient but I found a day to do it long before New Year's Eve. There was no line. It amazes me how whiney a bunch of supposedly rugged men are. Game and fish is there to conserve wildlife, who cares if my tag is cheesy. -

What difference does it make? For crying out loud if they didn't have tags everyone would have cried. Now they have tags and everyone cries because they have to get a ziplock bag and some tape. They add tags, people cry. They reduce tags people cry. So much crying! -

This is funny. Plenty of states require you to notch your tag and secure it to the animal. It's your responsibility to carry a tie wire or tape to secure it, this is how my pack lost it's zipper strings. Not that big of a deal. If it saves money, props to them for not pissing it down the toilet on stupid specialized printers and paper they have to give every license vendor. I will be sticking mine in a ziplock bag and taping it to the animal to be sure I don't lose it. My goodness people, take 30 minutes and go read Who Moved My Cheese. Change isn't always bad. -
First of all congrats on a great buck. Second, you may want to hit up the guys at Badlands Taxidermy in Holbrook. TC does the best antler staining I have ever seen. I am sure he would have a solution.

There was shrinkage this morning, but none of it was on the ground!

Well here is looking towards a new year with new hopes and dreams. Hope for all of us, hope that: ASU wins 12 games and the Rose Bowl ASU basketball wins 12 basketball games UA loses 12 football games UA loses 12 basketball games Some guys will get their first bow kill, first buck or other first. Some how some, some way someone with 3 or less bonus points will draw a sheep, antelope or early elk tag. I live this time of year, people are starting to think about elk applications and new bag limits are in effect. Anything is possible. Good luck guys and Happy New Year!

It was like 75 degrees. Piggies were all holed up. Didn't even see much sign.

That headset is funny, I couldn't see it last night. May 2014 bring renewed hope for all of us. Good luck on your hunt Redman. Shoot straight.

Long - range Chiricahua coyote

I hope that wasn't a female. If you shoot females there soon won't be any coyotes left to shoot -
Hence the hours upon hours sitting at my computer building spreadsheets . . . Essentially I gleen the info from the Bonus Pass Report data entry every hunt and run a custom formula for every one. That's probably the most Info I will disclose.

My boys are turning 4 and 5 this August and they would really like bows that they can shoot with Daddy. I know there is a bunch of different bows for youngsters and I have seen guys post pics of their little ones shooting, so what bow should I get them started with? I see Bear Scout at like Sportsman's and Bass Pro has anybody used one?

Hey Redman remember that time CTG dropped 58 on your loser Wildcats with that borrowed headset? Yeah, me too. BTW I was there last night, how was your trip to New Orleans?
-
I still disagree. The 1-2 pass shows how the chips fell last year, but does not predict how they will fall next year. The bonus pass by hunt number gives all the necessary info to provide you with a peak into what your odds for this year are. The number of applicants by bonus point group once totalled tells you how many numbers are issued, subtract out those who drew in the bonus pass and voila! If the 1-2 pass report was an indicator of the likelihood of future success there would be a linear relationship between the # of bonus points and the % drawn, which there is not, because the draw is random and there for unpredictable.
-
Doug - sorry to derail your post but I wouldn't use that report to calculate odds. What that report shows is how many people with your bonus point total drew tags in the 1-2 pass but that is not a reliable indicator of what will happen this year. For example - if last year 50 people with 4 BP applied for an antelope tag, and 2 of those people were on one app and drew the tag, the report would say that the percent drawn was 8%, but those people got lucky and drew a really low random number, but the probability of that happening is far less than 8%. To get accurate results you need to use the Report that shows the Bonus Pass by hunt number.
-
You would be close to the bonus pass but I think some of the guys that had that tag last year (speedygoss) would say it was pretty tough. With that many pts you are right there for 3b and 3a/3c. Both are solid every single year. 22 has really become a cash cow for AZGFD, there were a TON of tags in there last year when you look at all the hunts.
-
Less than 3%
-
Your pitch may be somewhat improved by the addition of a size . . .
-
According to Hunter's Trailhead you've got a 33% chance to draw the 7 tag. 5B max pts is 23 and at 21 you were at about 3% In other news I wish I had 21 points. I actually think your odds in 5B are less than 3% but we are basically in agreement. You are right on the brink of being guaranteed that 7 tag.
