    Shed from the desert

Looks a lot like a buck my buddy shot a few years back. If I can figure out how to post a pic I may upload one and see if anybody agrees.

    Unit 37 Coues

I was up North for the holiday this weekend and saw a coues buck in 5A for the first time. I have spent a lot of time there over the years and always wanted to see a WT. I don't usually spend a lot of time near the rim in this unit but while I was checking out a new part of the burn I spotted a little 3x3. Made my weekend, especially cause I couldn't seem to glass up any elk.

    Close encounter with a lion

I stopped going to the zoo when I found out that they are a supporter of the mexican wolf restoration initiative. Not giving my $ to an organization that is trying to destroy my sport.

5b had 861 rifle bull tags...

I would hardly look to Utah as the model for Wildlife management. Their hunters started screaming about "opportunity" so they instituted a general spike only season. Since the institution of the spike season the trophy quality has really plummeted. About the same time they opened up more late hunts in their trophy units to help create more tags, and their elk herd have paid dearly. I would say this should be a warning to hunters in Arizona about what demanding more "opportunity" can mean. I love to hunt as much as the next guy (maybe more than some), but there has to be some limits. Having lived and hunted in ID, UT and AZ over the past 6 years, let me say that the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence. I would gladly trade what those states have to offer for the opportunities we have right here in AZ. No, I don't hunt elk every year, but I can get a quality coues hunt every year, ample archery deer opportunities, and a chance at outstanding elk hunting every few years. I love this state and the opportunities it provides, I just hope we can maintain what we have had over the past 20 or so years.

    How stupid can you be?

When I saw this question I thought of many, many experiences I have had in the outdoors. I think the more appropriate question is "How inconsiderate can you be?" Because I can be very stupid, but would never do something like this.

    Unit 37 Coues

Ths pigs up in 9 and 10 have always baffled me. Seems like the winter would be awfully hard on them.

    Unit 37 Coues

I guess everyone will have to take my word for it that I was engaged in a legal activity when this encounter occurred. I am familiar with the regs and have read them. I have driven past Black Mt. a few times and wondered if there was an established population of WT. I haven't ever glassed it but what I have seen looks pretty much like everywhere else they hang out. I knew there were a few hanging out up in the NE corner of 37b by Superior. AZcoues that really surprised me that you see them in the White Tanks. That's a long ways from where I would have expected them to be. Has anybody had luck finding them up high like in 4A or 5A? I have always expected to glass one up in Leonard canyon or some other nasty piece of real estate.

    1st Year hunting Arizona.

Scooter, I am not sure whereabouts you live, but if you would like to team up for some coues hunting drop me a line, any excuse is a good excuse to be sitting behind my 15's. I usually hunt alone and I even have a spare tripod. Once whitetail season is over, I wouldn't mind going out after a few varmint pelts.

    Bear hunting with dogs..

I have not hunted bears with dogs. Some day, when I have the resources I would like to hire someone to take me on one of these hunts for the following reasons: 1. It is physically challenging. 2. It will be exciting. 3. It will provide an opportunity to be successful. 4. It will allow me to be selective. 5. I am open minded and like to try new things. 6. I do not have the resources or desire to raise and train my own animals, but would like to try hunting with them. Why is it that we as hunters engage in so much in-fighting over who is more honorable? Why wouldn't hunting with hounds be respectable/sportsmanlike? This sounds like the long range debate rehashed. We are all hunters, we should simply respect the fact that others choose to invest their time and money into our sport.

    TRAIL CAM SHEEP 24B SOUTH

I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time in that area, and the sheep have been a regular occurrence. I always love looking at them. It looks like those pics are in the far south of the unit. I have the same brand of camera and have been very happy with the picture quality.

    Draw reaults

I drew a 22 archery tag. Anybody else have this tag? It looks like my hunting buddy is going to be out of commission for a bit.

22 Archery Pig. Anybody else draw this tag?

Recent history of Spring draw results

They are not simply out that $. You and I are out that $ cause we have to make up for it with our good credit cards in the form of increased app fees in the future. So here is a question, if I receive a tag through the draw, but decide I would rather have one in a unit with leftovers, can I trade my tag received through the draw for a leftover? Reason being on my brothers mule deer hunt last week I found a bunch of pigs in a unit that was my 3rd choice. Saw them every time we went out for 3 weeks. BTW called the G&F office today, they said this week . . . hopefully.

    Early Archery Hunt

This wouldn't happen to be Coach Moro would it? You are pretty lucky to get to live where you do. I married a girl from Pinetop and love heading up to the mountain every chance I get.

    Early Archery Hunt

I have been applying only for the early archery elk hunt in 22 for the last few years. I know 22 pretty well and have helped on some early hunts in the past with good success. This year I am considering the early archery hunt in 3B as a second choice. I have 5 points so I know it will probably take me a few years to draw either of these hunts. My only experience in unit 3B is in November, and I would say that hunt is fairly marginal. Does anyone have experience on the early hunt?

    Early Archery Hunt

I guess I should have been a little more clear in my original post. I am considering the 3B EARLY archery hunt as my 2nd choice. In the past I have been on November rifle hunts and it was basically a spike hunt. I was wondering if anyone has hunted 3B on the early archery hunt, and what their thoughts were.
