    Cleaning a Bow

i heard not to use any kind of lubricant like wd-40 or anything else. I was told to use some kind of teflon pwder to put on your bearings cause oil lubricant attracts and collects dust and dirt and retains it. just what i heard.

    What Sweet Pic's

those are some sweet pics. i took a 2x2 buck on christmas day last year and gutted the deer. I already had a tree camera up and running at the time about 80 yds from the deer guts. the next week i collected the film and found a verry fat lion 5 yds in front of the camera and lion tracks were all over the area. not as nice as 3 lions in the pic though. also 2 yrs ago during a cow elk hunt in unit 1 me and my father were taking a break and he was showing me new areas to hunt in the area. I noticed a nice meadow and told him to stop so i could check it out. I didn't see any elk sign a all, so i bugled and imediately i heard a bull bugle back. I had a cow tag, but i thought i might be able to call in the bull so i turned and ran 10 yds through some trees to get my dads attention so he could sit with me. After i got my dads attention and told him to come over i turned around to go bak were i first bugled,,, there was a lion standing there where i first bugled crouched like he was ready to jump on me. I shot an arrow but had a tough time finding him with the three foot ferns. after 6-7 hours of looking i couldn't find him. that gave me the creaps for a while. sorry long story. thought you might enjoy.

    Bears

Hi guys, went out this weekend looking for sheds and as i was checking out a water hole near my spot i found bear tracks all over. There had to be at least 3 different bears comimg in. to top off the day we went to another spot further up the mountain and spotted a bear a mountain over. We sat there for about 30 minutes watching. turned out to be a nice weekend. No sheds though.

    funnels

Hi guys, I've been on this site for approximately 2.5 years trying to grasp all the information and learn on my own. The information, the humor, and the fact that we are all hunters is the reason why I keep coming back to this site. Now its time for me to post a Question. I just picked up the june/july magazine of bow and arrow and there was an article about mountain coues. The author was eddie claypool. He made it sound so easy about coming down to the Pinaleno moutains and doing a day or two of scouting. He stated he wanted to find a natural funnel. Now i've been out and found lots of deer sign, deer rubs, and even bumped some deer while doing this. I myself want to find a natural funnel, how do i find this and how do i know I found what i'm looking for. I've killed me a nice little 2 by 2 out of a blind, the deer was 11 yds. I feel i just had to be at the right place at the right time. In other words i feel i was just lucky. I want have the edge and not to rely on luck alone. any help would be appreciated. good luck in 2005!!!

now how do you go about reading maps besides looking for water holes. I've read where guys can pinpoint certain areas by just looking at maps. some out of staters do all there scouting by maps. I've used a trail cam and have had a lot luck with just doe and coudamunde pics, just never any bucks. I've even had my trail cam ripped off the tree. I found it 15 to 20 feet away lying on the ground. thanks for the reponses.
