I sure as heck hope so. My first choice was the December Unit 22 Rifle hunt. Odds aren't quite in my favor on that one so I'd be stoked!

I'm so excited about my hunt. My first choice was Unit 22 for the December hunt and my second choice was 22 for the October hunt. Both are for Coues. My first choice would be amazing, but I know the odds are low on that one. I'm happy either way!

Yeah buddy! I got hit!

Back country backpack trip for Coues
jp0212 replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I'm planning a backpack hunt this year as well. Praying and crossing all appendages that I score the 22 December WT tag. If not that one, I'll gladly take the October hunt I put as my 2nd choice. No matter what I plan to backpack though, draw will dictate when and whether or not I'm carrying a rifle or a bow. Plan is to hike 5-6 miles back into the Mazatzal Wilderness to try some areas out. I'll post up my gear here soon when I get it all together. Just ordered a Kifaru Timberline 2 that I'm waiting on, then I'll get it all squared away. I'm thinking we need to have a little get together for some brews and get to know each other so we don't all have to fly solo on these backpacking hunts! -
Yeah, mostly agree with everyone else. I faced a similar issue last summer. We moved into our new house and bought a new fridge, which didn't work. I was so pissed yelling at them on the phone trying to explain that we had 50 lbs of game meat in our fridge that would go bad. We were told it would take 5 days for a new fridge to come. I was so pissed yelling at them on the phone trying to explain that we had 50 lbs of game meat in our fridge that would go bad. Put everything in my cooler but by day 5 the top couple rows had defrotsted. They were still very cool, so we decided to give it a shot a freeze them again. Everything was still good thankfully. I think the key was that they were still very cool to the touch. If they defrosted and are warm, I'd say throw a party.

Man, everyone wants to toss it in a crockpot or make a stew generally, but my grandmas way of making it in Germany is absolutely AMAZING. I'm a huge food snob and can honestly say this is one of my top 3 meals ever. She used to make it for me constantly when I visited. Basically you just season it with salt and pepper, then brown it in a pan. Once all sides are browned you cover the pan and let it slow cook for several hours. Once the meat is really tender remove it from the pan and make a gravy with the droppings. For sides we would always do boiled Yukon Gold potatoes, red cabbage and cranberry sauce then douse it all in the gravy. Makes me want to run out a shoot some rabbits right now!

How is everyone doing with their plan? Anyone have anymore questions?

***ALL ITEMS HAVE BEEN SOLD*** My wife and I bought these a couple years ago, but have only actually used them one time. These are awesome sleeping bags we picked up at REI. All of these items have only been used once because we usually hunt up in the high country where it would drop to the negatives and single digits at night, so we would use our -35 sleeping bags instead. We also bought these to start backpacking into wilderness areas but never bit the bullet. These are particularly awesome for backpacking due to their extremely light weight. The gear is: $175 - REI Halo +25 Men's Long - EN Rated to 23 degrees, weighs about 2lbs, packs down to approximately the size of a Nalgene bottle. $165 - REI Halo +25 Women's Long - EN Rated to 23 degrees, weighs about 1.5lbs, packs down to approximately the size of a Nalgene bottle. $40/ea (have two) - Big Agnes Air Core Sleeping Pads, both are 20x72x2.5 rectangular shape, pack down to approximately the size of a Nalgene bottle. $35/ea (have two) - Cocoon Sleeping Bag Liner - Extremely soft and comfortable, helps protect sleeping bag, adds about 5 degrees of warmth to the bag EN Rating. Packages: Whole Women's Package - $220 Whole Men's Package - $230 Buy Everything - $425

***SOLD*** I have been collecting a ton of brass over the last few years with the intention of reloading, but never got into it, nor do I see starting anytime soon. I have a giant tub of brass taking up room in my garage that I am looking to get rid of. Figure it wouldn't be a bad idea to get this into the hands of someone that could use it. I also have the option of selling it for scrap metal, which I will do in a couple weeks if I don't hear from anyone. The batch consists of 9mm, 45ACP, tons of 223/556, 308 and some others. $125.

Thats a tough one. I'd say if you can fit into any long mummy style sleeping bag you will fit into this one as well. I know you will fit into length wise because the bag is Long, making it 78".

For the next guy that is lookin, I'll chime in and say the boots at Schnee's are the best I have ever put on my feet. Far better than the Danners, Irish Setters, 5.11's and Rocky's I owned in the past. Extremely comfortable, great ankle support, great traction and extremely durable. I've had mine for three years now, which is much better than any other boot I have owned. Pricey but worth it.

I say go for the leftover Antelope rifle tag in Wyoming. I've done that before. Tons of fun, extremely high success rate and the tag will be less than $300.

Shoot me a PM with what you are offering per pound and I will let you know.
-
Not sure on straight line width, but it states 59" shoulder girth. To put it in perspective, I am 6' tall and 200 lbs and I fit in it comfortably. I assume you are asking about the mens? Does that answer your question or would you like me to measure it straight across?
-
Might give that a shot this weekend. Want me to shoot you a PM if I do? A very large amount of the ammo in there is actually 223/556.

This was my first, and I must say it was a good one! Got some new Double Old Fashioned Whiskey Glasses and molds to make giant round ice cubes as a surprise. I was also given the blessing to order myself a Kifaru Timberline 2 pack. Good fathers day indeed!

Man, super surprised to see so many people that had to go out and learn it on their own. I started getting really interested in my teens. Finally, one year I went out and picked up a bow and got started. Haven't looked back since. I'm addicted. Still have a lot to learn but its coming along.

Hahaha sorry my friend! Spent a little too much time creepin and not contributin'! If you decide you need a little help let me know!
-
I'll be happy to help! I can help with Type 2 diabetes, but the only caveat is that you MUST consult with your doctor before starting. Shoot me a pm and we will get her rollin!
-
Absolutely! Shoot me a pm with your email address and I'll send it over.
-
I could not be more jealous! I'd give anything to get a Coues like that!
-
My pleasure! Like I said in the PM, once you read it all over let me know what questions come about. I have a ton of more info to pass on but didn't want to overload the message haha. Feel free to call me as well if you prefer once you have looked at the meal plan and such.

Sounds good Reezen. Shoot me a pm and I'll help you get squared away. You'll love my meal plan, it requires you to take 1 day a week off from the plan and eat and drink whatever you want. Caveat is that it can only be one day and it has to be the same day of the week, every week. I'll keep an eye out for your message.
