I'm shooting a new Burris veracity 5-25 on my .338 Lapua. Has all the great features you look for (ffp, great zero stop, good reticle, etc) for a hair under 1k. I like it better than the vortex pst. I think once these scopes catch on, a lot of people will be shooting them

i might be wrong, but unless you are packed waaay in and can't get the antlers cold, do not attempt the formaldehyde injections. get those velvet antlers cold, preferably frozen, asap
-
Great mount. Maybe even better than R&R could do...lol

Looks like probaby a nosler ballistic tip bullet and possibly H4831 powder due to the large granule size. No way to tell what exactly the powder is to my knowledge

PM sent

Looks like a sow and a cub to me. Beautiful bear, and yes, probably "two tone". It doesn't look wet

Picked it up this evening. Transaction was fast and painless. Thanks for a great deal on a nice gun

Pickin it up this evening

And you will probably get another smiling coues deer mount.

They've gotta be in a place with GOOD cell phone reception. That's a deal breaker for most western hunters

Nice! I'll send you a PM. Looks like judging the elk worked out for me, eh Murf?

I was waiting for a good taxidermist to chime in on this. You should never have to hide a mount. I had a friend who just started doing taxidermy mount my last buck. Just picked it up today. It turned out really good. Much better than R&R does and it was like his 5th animal to ever mount. Also had it back in 5 months. There is NO excuse, other than laziness for an animal taking much more than a year to complete. We need to start a pinned thread on taxidermists to avoid. Most are repeat offenders

Yeah, yeah, yeah....

Dang missed it. If it doesn't sale, put me in 3rd place

WRONG..#2 is the smallest.... I stand corrected! I was semi right, however. I figured them all 320-330ish bulls
-
Glad you at least asked for am explaination
-
#2 is biggest. For sure

I have a bull on the wall that scores a little north of 400" as well as one that went mid 370's. Outside of an early rifle tag, i would not pass a shot on a TRUE 350" on any day of the hunt. Hearing the "350" number almost makes me cringe, as most people have no idea how big a 350" bull is.

Anyone have a good wild Turkey recipe???
GreyGhost85 replied to Big Browns's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
cut it into strips or nuggets, soak it in some cold salt water for a few hours. bread it and fry it. It is delicious cooked this way and you still taste the flavor of the bird, unlike marinating and brining. -
If you are dissatisfied, have him remove the antlers and give them back. You could have a good, reputable taxidermist mount them on a good cape. You have already waited 2.5 years, what's another 6 months? There are plenty of great taxidermists that advertise on this website that i am sure would be more than happy and accomodating to right this wrong situation

I didn't want to go here, but if that was my elk, i would not pay for the mount. I have heard a lot of horror stories about R&R. It looks like he mounted your antlers on a spike cape, and a bad one at that. The neck is waaay too skinny for a mature bull and looks as if it just finished a chemo treatment. I know it's not what you wanted to hear. I however, am very critical on my taxidermy work. You work your butt off to take that animal, pay top dollar and wait up to a few years to get the mount back. You should expect nothing less than a piece of art that you can be proud to hang and display for a lifetime. Just my 2 cents and please take no offense to my comment

i would say something definitely happened to the cape. who's fault it was, you may never know. sometimes the hunter does not get the cape cooled off quick enough, sometimes the taxidermist lets it thaw and spoil, sometimes the tannery can over brush them. a taxidermist knows the quality of the cape though, and they should let you know if the quality is suspect before completing the mount.

did his cape slip on you? maybe it's just me, but he looks really mangy and his mane is really really thin? it is a pretty rack though. congrats on the kill. that turnaround time is unacceptable, no matter what issues the guy is having
