270 FPS out of a bow claiming 315 fps IBO?

Thanks all, I really appreciate the info! I recently got a chronogragh to add to my reloading tools collection. I decided to check my bow speed this morning expecting something around 290-300 fps. Sounds like the 270 I am seeing is pretty normal. I'll be doing my first archery coues hunt here in a few weeks and I'm just trying to fine tune and prepare as much as possible. You advice helps a ton!

270 FPS out of a bow claiming 315 fps IBO?

Thanks for the info! I wasn't including the field point. I threw the arrow with tip on my loading scale and got a weight of 430.7

how many points do you have?

I just started putting in not long ago and only have 3. Guess I better get comfortable for a while. Anyone have info on Wyoming's fees and system? I wouldn't know where to even start up there.

Anybody used a SwingBlade knife before

I have and use both the Swing Blade and a Havalon knife. I find they compliment each other very well. With the Havalon being so small and light it is nothing to throw in my pack, while I put the Swing Blade on my waist. I shot a nice bull last fall and was really glad to have both.. The Swing Blade was awesome for opening him up and cleaning him out. But the sharpness and the ease of changing blades rather than sharpening while caping and skinning were great. As I started butchering I broke a couple if the thin Havalon blades so switched back and forth depending on my butchering needs. I have many knives but these are the two that will be in my gear again this fall.

Sighting my Bow for G5 Montecs of Mechanicals?

Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't considered the possible mesh problem.

Sighting my Bow for G5 Montecs of Mechanicals?

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish moving the 30 yard pin was as simple as it would seem. But it is not just the 30 yard pin. It is also the 40, 50, and 60 yard pins. Under normal circumstances, not a big deal. But when you recently sliced the skin, muscle, and tendons down to and away from the tibia and fractured your tibia, simple tasks become a bit more difficult. I'm not complaining, just looking for suggestions of feasible solution given my situation and time to prepare. Thanks

    Looking for 15x Bino's

I have never used the Minox but have heard great things about the glass and the warranty service. I am a Vortex guy myself, but if they don't work for you give the Minox a try.

    Smoking trout

I like a mix of apple and pecan. Most definitely I would suggest leaving the skin on for both added fat, moisture, and flavor.

How close would you let it get?

I'm with you, if I were to just happen upon an animal in the woods the lion would make me much more nervous than the bear. Can't really say why though.
