Hey guys, thanks for the feedback.  Wow, I guess I wont be pulling over again any time soon!  Lol.  I guess a few more details to the story are necessary.  In my mind at the moment I turned onto that ridge road before he got there, I was relieved I got there first.  Had he gotten there first, I would have been pissed (at myself for not getting there early enough) but I wouldn't have followed him, right on his butt. (that is the main ethical question I had in mind) So when he turned onto it too, I was disappointed and a little pissed. Just to be clear, there was no mistaking my arm gesture out the window to stop.  I didn't flag him by.  I usually stop well short of the beginning of the ridge and walk the rest of the way, still hunting my way to my ground blind and salt.  The road used to stop a few hundred yards past where I park and it was just a cattle trail that has been turned into a road by quads and sxs's.  I knew that if I stopped in my usual spot, he was going to just go on up the road and ruin any chance I might have of sitting my salt, so, I tried to talk to him before we got that far.  That didn't work too well for me.  I thought it was pretty chitty of him to tail me like that since he had to know what was ahead, I mean you don't go to your second or third choice area first thing in the morning, you go to a place you know in the dark.  Even if I hadn't stopped, he would have been going past me and driven thru some prime hunting grounds.  That is why I stopped and tried to get him to stop.  Again thanks for the feedback.

IF I were going to stop to talk to him, I'd stop in the middle of the road, hop out out of the truck onto the road, and wave my arms while walking out in front off his SxS to make my intentions very clear that I wanted to talk and temporarily not give him a passing lane.

  2. Forgive me, but I am going to play devils advocate. Are you sure he knew you were pulling over to talk, and didn't assume you were pulling over to let him pass. I've been on both ends of this many times, letting people pass who were clearly in a bigger hurry than I, and passed people who pulled to the side to let me get by. It seems to be a pretty common courtesy most do. Maybe he incorrectly assumed this is why you pulled over?

Since you asked, If I were in your situation as describe, there is no chance I would have slowed (I actually would have sped up) or done anything to let someone get past me until I was safely at the spot. At that point you can correctly make the claim that you were the first there, and not just a guy driving down the road.

  3. Helped my brother with his move to Tennessee this past weekend. His movers wouldn't allow these on the truck out of explosion concerns (California based company). There is a total of 16 one pound canisters all new unopened in plastic wrap.

    Asking $50 for the lot.

Pick up is in Queen Creek. Please don't inquire if you aren't able to come to Queen Creek to pick up.

    Thanks

Who is hating on this bull? For the record I think it is a great bull and would be proud of it as well. I just posted it because I thought people would want to see it as it is one of the first bulls I have seen taken this season. I always enjoy seeing success stories and wish everybody the best of luck this year.

I don't think anyone was hating on it. It is just that anytime anyone comments or asks questions about a bull or buck antlers, the "you can't eat the horns" guys come out of the woodwork to let you know what an evolved (dare I say "woke") hunter they are. Congrats to the hunter, I am sure he is happy with this bull. He should be if it met his goals for the hunt.

If I drew the once in 10,000+ hunter's lifetime statewide year long raffle tag (since I won't be buying an auction tag anytime soon), I'd be taking it up to the last day holding out for a 400"+ bull, especially if I had hired one of the big outfitters in the state. For the amount of money he likely spent, he could have bought a whole lot of beef. So I don't buy the "can't eat the antlers" argument in these (or most any) situation.

Regardless, it doesn't mean the rest of us can't or shouldn't be able to discuss it. I think the size of this bull makes for interesting conversation about the current droughted state of our wildlife, raffle and auctions tags, etc.

  5. Left-over 33 muzzleloader was all but a guarantee until 2-3 years ago when the social media crowd started posting and sharing the heck out of the left-over list. Things changed over night. Went from all of my buddies who applied getting one to maybe 1 in 10. It gets worse each year as the same guys are applying plus an additional 500 new guys who also just had "the same bright idea".

  6. I asked about this a couple of years ago because the follow up lists after the initial day showed tags still available, but I still didn't get one and knew they received my application on day one. The lady I talked to at Game and Fish told me that they were all gone on day one, but because they have to be entered in manually (paper apps) it can take a few days to get everything entered into the computer. So while the updated left over lists may still show tags available, in actuality, they already belong to someone, but have not yet been entered into the computer.

  7. I haven't driven one, but been a passenger in a couple of different ones on multiple hunts on some very rough roads at high and load speeds. My opinion, they live up to the hype. Honestly, they far surpassed my expectations.  They ruined my F150 4x4 XLT for me. But since a Raptor won't be in my price range anytime soon, I'll dream about one and be happy with what I have.

  8. 😒 My kid has an elk tag that week.

Just don't buy anything till you have that tag in hand. Don't say I didn't give you a heads us. But sincerely wish you luck. You and the other 5000 guys that suddenly had the 33 muzzleloader epiphany that 10,000 other guys had before you over the past few years.

  9. If you are thinking about it based on left over tag numbers in 33, save your money. Looks like there are a ton, but like with all other LO tags, word is out. About 10,000 guys now apply for these LO muzzleloader these days. It sucks! Used to be easy to pick one up. Now they are as hard to get as the premium draw tags.
