  2. Spent last weekend at the Sunrise Bow shoot, then went over to Reservation Lake for a few days. Ran into these fellas, sure were fun to watch! hehe
  3. May the 'Hunting Gods' put forth major bad "joo-joo" on who ever stole my camera out of Unit 9 this past week! May they not draw a single tag for many years to come, May they shoot crooked arrows, may bad luck follow them like the stench of their dirty rotten thievery! Sorry everyone, just really ticked off! I know it's a chance you take when putting cameras up, but I like to believe people are decent. I had the camera on a trick tank way out of the way, it was getting hammered so I thought it would be fun to see what was coming in. I have an archery tag in 9, I've been up there 5 times to scout so I wanted to start getting some elk on the camera. Oh well, chalk one up for the decency of mankind.... Ilene

    Rain in unit 9

Have been watching the NOAA weather station in Tusayan very closely, especially since I have an archery bull tag! We sure need a bunch of rain up there, I've been up there a few times scouting and was sad to see most tanks empty or close to. Here's a small report I pulled off NOAA. RECORD PRECIPITATION FOR NORTHERN ARIZONA FOR MAY 23 2007... NEW PRECIPITATION GRAND CANYON NP S RIM (1910-2007) 1.47 PREVIOUS RECORD/YEAR 0.50 IN 1920 Bring on the RAIN!

  10. Hey COOSEFAN, I get to GO! I will be going see Antonio and the gang around Feb. 2nd, I had to practically twist my husbands' arm off but I'm going back with my bow again! Our January is so busy it's the only time we could get down there. So before I get there find me a 'Beeg One' and tie 'em to a tree for me "Pleeeassse" Good Luck to you and your hunters, maybe we'll get to meet down there! Ilene
  11. Hey Coosefan, I went back down south with Chihuahua Rough Country to see if I could get one of those birds that bugged me all deer season! Once again, a great experience... My trophy - Gould's Turkey with a bow!
  12. Cousefan inspired me to write after reading his report! We went on the same hunt, I was a week earlier than him. I just got back from my hunting trip in Chihuahua, it's hard to express to you how much I enjoyed it!!! I went with Chihuahua Rough Country Outfitters and what great bunch of people they turned out to be, I couldn't have asked for better guides (and cook). Antonio really went out of his way to try and figure out some of the deer patterns before I got there, he was really worried about me just using my bow. Goose, our other guide made sure I had everything I needed and I was comfortable with all my set ups. The first day I didn't see any deer, but it was a good day getting to know the terrain. The second day my husband came with me to sit with me in my Double Bull (scared me because he can hardly sit still for a couple of hours before he gets bored ) Right off we started to see animals, by the end of a 10 hour day we had seen 25 deer and 100+ Goulds Turkey. For 3 hours the turkey surrounded my blind making so much noise we could hardly hear each other, it was thrilling. I shot my deer the 3rd day at 9:15 a.m. he was the 15th deer to come in that morning. I shot him at 42 yards and we found him 100 yards through the trees. The excitement was overwhelming! I just shot my first deer! This is the first Couse Deer on this ranch to be shot with a bow AND the first EVER KILL by a woman! I am so proud, I know it's not a monster, but I couldn't be happier. The country is absolutely beautiful, lots of pine, oak and juniper, where my deer went down was 7900 feet in elevation! I miss my new friends, I miss Rufina's cooking, and I miss Chihuahua, I can't wait to go back... One of many Goulds Turkey, if I'm lucky I'll get to go back and get one w/my bow this April

    "Dos Venados" from Mexico!

Hey Cousefan! Congrats to you my fellow hunter! I also had the time of my life, my story will be posted over on the archery site. It is indeed hard to explain to people how great this hunt was, I dream of going back, and I hope I get to... Congrats again, those are a couple of great deer! Ilene

    I'm getting excited!!!

Hi Jim, Yes, Gary is who we have been talking to, and indeed he is a very nice guy! I hope you are right about my chances of gettin' one with my bow, it would be a dream come true for sure. My husband is going with me but not hunting, he will film and help glass, he enjoys glassing as much as I do hunting... Good luck with your hunt, it will be here before we know it! Ilene

    I'm getting excited!!!

Hey COOSEFAN, I am also booked for a trip w/the same group. I purchased my hunt through an auction at the SCI banquet here in Flagstaff. My hunt is Jan. 10th, I am really pressing my luck and only taking my bow down with me. I am an archery hunter and to me, that is the only way I want to hunt, so we'll see if it pays off. Been practicing a bunch and as you, getting really excited too!
  16. Has anyone had any experience with this group or Jose Antonio Grajeda Ayala? They are out of Chihuahua. Thanks, L2H
