    AZGFD paying youtubers?

I think we are on the same page. It's not state tourism. If it's not funded by license sales it is by critter groups whose members are from AZ. I don't imagine the reaction would be good if those members discovered that. My point is the lack of transparency and that we got a long winded smoke blowing response and justification that talked about state tourism.

    AZGFD paying youtubers?

I agree that the fund exists. I'm saying that them trying to tell us it's state tourism and not directly funded by hunting license sales or groups is complete BS

    AZGFD paying youtubers?

Ah yes. The ol state tourism and shot show explanation. Lol tell me more about things that have absolutely nothing to do about the conversation at hand... Which is paying YouTubers to hunt in AZ to draw nonresidents which is now limiting hunt opportunities for residents. I mean a local drug dealer makes way less money - some would say a drop in the bucket compared to large drugs companies. So it must be okay. Talking in circles to justify... A state tourism fund does not pay for someone to hunt in AZ. Wait until PETA finds out about that... State Tourism and selling licenses are completely unrelated. It doesn't even make sense. I mean shoot look at all the state tourism guys featured in his videos. (Sarcasm) Try asking him if he has or had any personal connections in AZGFD before he got paid. He says that state wildlife agencies have limited funds. Glad we spend them on making it harder for residents to have the opportunity to hunt.

And an extra nonresident license purchased whether they draw or not.

How else do you attract out of state hunters so you can shut down more December archery hunts?

G&F commission voted unanimously to ban trail cams

    That rings true for me.

G&F commission voted unanimously to ban trail cams

They are counting on the public to do the enforcing. Most people will abide by the law, and jump to conclusions when they do see a trail camera (hunter or not). Some people will report, but a hunch tells me most people would destroy or take cameras they come across Before this people were taking cameras. Imagine what it'll be like now. Even the guys that continue to run them will face the onslaught and potential of damaged or stolen cameras. Some people just need an excuse to mess with someone else's stuff.

    Thoughts on new recommendations

They tried to make a little bit more money and hurt everyone. Including potentially themselves. A lot of guys buy an archery tag if they don't kill a rifle buck. A closure in their unit of choice in December might prevent that.

    A bunch of BS!

Why does the AZGFD charge cards the morning after the CC update deadline? - To reduce the chance of credit cards getting denied. That's clearly the intent. They may not outline it anywhere in the regs but it's not a random act. Now due to an internal error, possibly thousands of people have had cards canceled after the same AZGFD removed the option of applying with anything other than a card. My card is currently fine. But if they were a business they would fail. I'd be pretty surprised at this point if they didn't try to do something to mitigate this problem. A credit card update window or calling the people that had cards rejected? I have no idea. "We're from the government and we're here to help."

How do you know it's abandoned when you take it? For reference - Forest Service law is 72 hours. Not overnight. And I know this isn't forest service land but in the case of forest service land you'd have to sit on a piece of "abandoned" property for 72 hours straight to be able to even prove it was abandoned. The owner could visit it at any time and the clock would restart. Were you there at 2:01 AM when the owner may have been? Better re start the clock then. All of these people that misquote abandoned property laws are the worst. I apologize if it seems like this is all directed at you. Just addressing the problem as a whole but a lot of people seem to have this mindset.. and it's very common to see people "justify" stealing on the internet by saying it's abandoned property when they don't even know what that means. If I leave my tent up for 3 nights would you consider taking it? What the heck is wrong with people. If it's not yours don't take it
  14. Ah yes. A knee jerk reaction to the complaints of non hunters that do mostly nothing to fund conservation effort that hunters and anglers have been carrying for years Makes sense. People want to see wildlife but have no idea who pays for wildlife.

    Frustrated newbie seeking advice

They may be a long way off. Does will bed closer to water than bucks and bucks don't necessarily need water every day and may water in multiple places. My suggestion is to get somewhere where you can see A LOT. Like a mile in every direction. Glass the obvious stuff and opens and then work a grid starting close to you and working away. You may only find a handful of deer in that square mile grid but you will start seeing deer eventually. And that's the most fun part!

I've spent a ton of time in 24A and there are very few hillsides that don't have deer on them. This time of year though really focus on shady spots and stuff near water. If a cold front rolls through close to your hunt and the temperature drops you might catch them out on the sunny slopes in the morning. Get to a spot where you can see so much it scares you a little bit and sit there and glass all day. You'll find deer.

Trail Cameras a violation in the Coronado NF??

Stuff like this drives me nuts. Just like people that take trail cameras or say taking trail cameras is legal by saying it's "abandoned property". Do you have any idea how hard that is to prove? You have to be able to prove without a doubt that nobody visited the camera for 72 consecutive hours. That's impossible without a multiple person shift. Even another trail camera won't work because I can visit it and never physically touch it
  18. I wanted a ultra 7 but they were backordered so I ended up with a Q Trash Panda. You're basically looking for something likely titanium.
  19. I've never owned any of the fancy camos but figured it's time to get some better stuff. Of the major brands out there I can get the best deal on First Lite so that's why I'm sticking with them. I need a good set of pants - brush busting and can be warm. Think Coues Country central AZ in the winter, if they could double time as October pants that'd be great. I figure I need a decent jacket for those cold windy glassing days. What else if you're starting from scratch? Layers? I want to be able to sit on a windy hill side in December and not freeze. Anything that doubles as an October hunt clothing is even better. I'm coming from jeans with thermals when necessary and a Carhartt jacket when it's cold. Not great to hike in but it's worked. I've been curious about the nicer gear for awhile and it's time to make the leap.

First Lite Clothing - Need input

I've been eyeballing the sawbuck pant. I figure if it's not warm enough I can wear thermals underneath and be fine. Jackets seem a bit more confusing. There are puffy jackets and hybrid jackets. Are most guys running a puffy jacket in their pack to put on when needed? And a more mid jacket for the rest of the day?

    Bed in a box beds?

We went Brooklyn Bedding and are very happy. What's nice about them is they are an AZ company with showrooms sprinkled throughout the state so you can check out their different models. Then you get the box sent to your house like everyone else

    How Long Do You Glass?

I like to sit in one spot all morning and through lunch where I can see a lot of country or where I've seen a big buck during scouting trips. If you have confidence in a spot and aren't seeing deer it's usually because they haven't stood up yet or haven't worked around a mountain face, etc. Coues Deer have small enough home ranges that you just have to trust yourself and fight the urge to move when you're in a great spot.
