  1. Most gunsmiths and outdoor shops will do it for free. Just give them a call. I know that sportsmans, bass pro and cabelas all will. At least they have done it for me and I didnt have to buy anything from them. They may be a bit far from you if you are in Florence so if that is the case just order one for $25. It's not hard to do.

  2. Couesbaiter, go easy on the guy. Your first post on this website and your knocking someone else. If I didn't know any better I'd say he shot your puppy. :)

Yes Mount Lemmon is as good as any. Like any (coues holding) unit, have to put some miles on your boots to find a really good shooter but plenty of meat up there.

I don't know about you guys I just want AZLance to give up his secret spots for the jaguars lol

  3. I have found that covering myself in honey is a great deterrent- like a natural bear repellent.

Jk It is just as dangerous than any other form of hunting here in AZ. You just have to be aware of your surroundings at all times. Both of those rifles are great (i personally prefer 180gr in my 30-06 when bear hunting)

The only time a bear is truly a danger to you is if it is not at all scared by your presence. That would mean its a sow with cubs around or it sees you as a potential meal/threat. Even sows with cubs will run 99% of the time. I don't know anyone who is overly dramatic about the dangers of bear hunting but I will be the first to say the COMPLACENCY = DANGER. Be smart and you'll be perfectly fine,

Authorities say a Mexican gray wolf has died in east-central Arizona’s Apache Sitgreaves National Forest.

Arizona Game and Fish officials say a field team was trying to fit radio-telemetry collars on some Bluestem Pack wolves last weekend.

One female yearling was caught in a padded foot trap and moved into rocky terrain on the edge of a slope.

By the time crews could get to the wolf, it was no longer breathing and couldn’t be revived.

Authorities say it’s only the third such capture-related death in the 15-year history of the Mexican wolf reintroduction project in Arizona and New Mexico.

The Mexican gray wolf was added to the federal endangered species list in 1976 after it was nearly wiped out by government trapping and poisoning designed to help cattle ranchers.

  5. everyones so paranoid that once its been put out online - the world knows and everyone with a tag or whom ever thought of hunting the unit will be flocking to that exact spot for yrs to come !

helping people out with the name of a canyon or road or tank isn't really gonna effect anything. especially when theres over 1000 tags in a 3 month period . Most these units are huge - so givin a little info to a beginner may help him get started . the majority of the units regular hunters know the areas and some may say its the best spot they ever found - others may have not ever seen deer there and would never even consider wasting time there agin.

As most know deer are spread through out most units high and low . been to spots where told to find bunchs of deer to not find a single track .

time changes areas along with mother nature - roads are closed due to flooding- areas fenced off due to burns- it stops everything but foot travel . newbies will turn around and leave but the guy who knows there are big bucks wont let anything stop him .

So I doubt if I give a little info out and it will stop you from hunting your favorite spot because another truck is parked in the area.

good luck to everyone who has a tag .

I was lucky to draw a Dec. 21 -- whitetail - I'll be hunting the 7 springs area - of maybe yellowjacket canyon . find me if you can ! big red ford- its about a 1 1/2 mile hike into the remote tank I hunt!

That's your truck I've been seeing there near my remote tank/honey hole that I have been hunting for generations and no one else it entitled too!?! I'll just get there before you do. ;)

  6. Welcome! There are hundreds of websites however if you are hunting AZ Coues whitetail you will be hard pressed to find a site with more resource information than this one. Its never to late to become a hunter, what unit did you get drawn for?

Click on the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen and type in the different topics you have questions about such as equipment, clothing, glassing, caring for the animal etc.

For most Coues hunters it a matter of getting deep in the unit, sitting behind your binoculars and glassing, glassing & more glassing. The latter end of the fall season tends to be more dry (even more than usual) so get a good Forest Service map and locate your water sources.

Let us know what unit you got drawn for and when?

What gun do you plan to use?

What equipment you already have etc?
