  1. Unless there is a ton of standing water I would still hit your water hole. However, i would glass if there is some open country in the general area. I have always had more encounters with deer by glassing them and stalking them.

Water is just hit and miss when there is a lot of rain. Besides 1/2 the campers in the state set up shop in the unit this time of year. They can keep the animals moving.

  2. I was curious about something. In my scouting adventures I have stumbled across quite a bit of acorns. They are green right now though. Some about an inch long. Do you think the bears would be eating these, or would they wait until they were totally grown?

Those are actually baby pine-cones....its a common mistake.

Jk bears and deer will be ALL over those when they begin to ripen.....especially deer

  3. Helping people that are lazy, uncommitted, and looking for the easy way out ,is another matter......

I motion that from now on a newbie with less than 5 posts must submit their current fat to muscle ratio, workout regiment, diet plan, blood type and any prior convictions before information is shared. Or before they receive Obamacare whichever comes first.

jk but on a serious note chronic laziness and mosquitoes are the same- they both suck. :)

  4. I agree with both sides of the argument to a point. Some people just get too worked up over it. No one is forcing anyone to give up info. If you're that worried about "you're secret spot" being discovered then don't hunt public land.

I am willing to bet that most individuals who are "just getting into hunting" really wouldn't expect that asking for info/help would be rude. If you don't want to share then don't, if you can- then welcome to the club. You're the only one who loses if your blood pressure goes up. (I mean that generally- not at anyone in particular)

Having said that, READ AZG&F FIRST it's step up to help first time hunters. A big shout out to all of you who have helped me!

  5. Its just what you like. I like the biscuit don't have to worry about your arrow flopping around while on a stalk. Mine shoots great. This is about my average group at 90 yards. So I don't think it will affect arrow flight other than you will lose about 5 feet per second.

+1 it really dosent slow your arrow enough to make a DRAMATIC difference. Yes, there are some other rests that offer a little less resistance and a little more accuracy. Personally I don't shoot over 70 yards. At least not accurately so I have never had to worry about my biscuit. Plus they are 1/2 the price of others. Mine is a couple years old and I have shot many times through it. I will get a newer one next year...maybe

  6. My wife saw me sittin on the couch tonight and said "I'm surprised your not looking at a map or messing with your bow."

She was right, after a long day at work I had lost focus already. Complacency is for the weak so I unpacked and repacked my gear. Who knew that all the times she told me "you're obsessed with hunting" or I have "mixed up priorities"...she was really saying I love you.

Who said marriage is boring? Hahah. 9 more days!!!!

  7. Oh boy here we go again . . . let me save us the time:

Group A: "Game & Fish is so greedy they have ruined every elk unit from 1-7, now they are working on 9&10. It won't be long and there won't be abull over 280 left in the state."

Group B: "G&F isn't greedy and they need all that $$$ to buy manage wildlife (and pay settlements with their employee-poachers) . . .We have the best G&F in the world. If you don't believe me go hunt ID."

Group A: "You are all nothing but a bunch of G&F groupies, you probably have posters of Larry Voyles on your bedroom walls. Your man crush with these guys makes me sick. You are clearly all too dumb to see how they are ripping us off . . ."

Group B: "You guys are a bunch of uneducated goons, what do you want our state to be just like Utah, with the so called sportsmen's groups auctioning off our tags. The G&F is smarter than we can ever hope to be, we have to trust them."

    Group A: "Your dumb!"

    Group B: "No your dumb"

Group A: "My dad can beat up your dad!"

Ok can we just bypass the whole G&F debate and see more pics of bulls now?

Well anything sounds dumb when you say it like that lol
