Crazy.. try listing it for $100 and let them haggle from there and then they will really feel like they are getting a deal!;-)
  3. I picked up a machine that has a 3 phase motor and I have 220 at my house. I do not want to run a static or rotory phase converter, but looking to run a variable frequency drive. Im trying to figure out how to size it to the motor and amps.. if anyone if familiar with this and can help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

3 phase power and VFD's..who knows about them?

I called Butch like suggested. He said for my type of machine what he carries isnt quite what I need but he told me to contact a guy name Dave over at Western Switches and that he can help me out better since he deals in my type of machines.

3 phase power and VFD's..who knows about them?

Matt that is awesome! I didn't realize you had that much stuff at home. .. I remember seeing the video of the new toy you purchased a while back. I hear ya though. .. I rarely get to do things for myself its usually for everyone else. I have a project that I have been toying with in my head and if I can put it on paper I may talk to you. It would be much better suited for CNC:-)

3 phase power and VFD's..who knows about them?

Thank you for the replies guys! I figured there had to be someone local that could help out! As far as what toy I picked up... its another mill. I have a couple others already. The other big one I have came with a VFD and I can't get that one in the garage so I keep it at my brother in laws for now. I have been running a little bench top one to get most things done and now this is a big Bridgeport style one running a 2hp motor that I will be able to do much more with.

3 phase power and VFD's..who knows about them?

That's what I thought at first and then some others were telling me I need to double the size of VFD from the horse power and then I was told the same about the amps. I started to get a little confused as I'm not the most versed on those things. So I decided to post here and see other peoples expertise. Im not saying you are wrong I'm just stating what I have run into thus far and double checking. I will mention too the machine doesn't run at a constant torque which I know they make different VFD's for those applications too.

    Testing Time of Year

I just got home yesterday from taking some boy scouts out. One of them I asked to fold the tarp up that he used and he said he didn't know how (13 years old). I asked if he folds the blankets or sheets at home.. he said no. I asked one of the other boys to help him and he learned how to fold a tarp. At what point do parents think its alright to teach there kids what I thought was common knowledge. ..?

    Rem 700 long action search

Regarding the 700 action, you will always have more options of aftermarket upgrades to make it just what you are looking for. ... must be some reason so many of the custom actions are modeled after the Rem 700 action.

    Rem 700 long action search

Barrels are easy to deal with no serial number so you don't have to deal with the FFL thing. Just order it right to your house. Just know what contour of barrel you are looking for and what twist rate to accommodate the bullet you plan to shoot. Know what finished length barrel you want too, you always cut off about the first inch off the barrel at the muzzle or more if you are looking for shorter.

    Rem 700 long action search

Just yesterday I saw that Pacific Tool and Gauge had on clearance an already blueprinted long action w the mag bolt face and an already installed m16 style extractor. A .270 action could work with the extra expense of opening the bolt face so if u can find one that already has the mag bolt face you are ahead of the game. Ya anything you order and need shipped would requite it going to an FFL. Most of the time that is what guys do, they buy a rifle and pull it apart. If you go that route buying used would be the way to go. Rarely do you see just the action (except ordering form places like Brownells) and buying them new usually is about the same cost as a complete rifle. If u can find a used complete rifle thats probably will be your best bet. But for the amount of work done to that Rem action at PTG really isnt a bad deal either.
  13. Ive got a guy that says he will take it if u want to give me your number ill have him call you
  14. Ive looked at the tube guns and decided I liked the chassis system better. I like the adjustment that you can choose from on both. They are great for kids and packing too since u can collapse them down easily. The pistol grip feels great when shooting prone. The tube gun requires a special recoil lugs that would have to be installed by a smith, the chassis you just drop a regular rifle into it. You have a bit more metal in the tube gun design making it a bit heavier. This one with out the scope I wanna say is a little over 8#. I looked at the tube gun for a long time and decided a chassis made more sense. There are a lot of chassis type stocks out there, this particular one is brand new from the Outdoorsman here in town. I just barely got the gun put together, myself and a few others have shot it now and everyone loves it.

New rifle caliber choice? You tell me!

i really like the 280AI as well! you have lots of options for brass and it has plenty of knock down at the distances mentioned. There is 280AI brass now and you can use regular 280 brass, also if you needed you can use 270 brass. 30-06 brass could be used in a pinch but the neck would be a little short though. Depending on what you have for a donor action or if you need to find one it is very easy to find an old 30-06 or anything with that bolt fact to build off of. The magnum bolt faces aren't quite as common... most smiths can open up the bolt face but easier and cheaper if you don't have to pay to have this done. Actions that will accept the 338 lapua aren't quite as common either (a Remington 700 is not well suited for a 338 Lapua for example because the case head is quite a bit bigger and doesn't leave much rim on the bolt nose once cut for the 338 Lapua) The 7 mag and 300 win have been staples for years even though i wouldn't have one, they are not bad choices by any means and are common enough that supplies are not like unicorns.

    Outdoorsmans Chassis System

I believe they are about $569 w the butt stock and all set up and I think they come in a couple different colors. The weight is about 2 lbs 4oz. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of it. Some of the other chassis are quite a bit more, might be worth a try!

    .243 Reamer, anyone?

Sorry I don't always log on... anyways Lance pretty much nailed it on the head. I think sometime in November is when I'll have the reamer from PTG. I already have a .243 that doesn't shoot anymore so I decided to go with the 6SLR because I can easily use .243 brass and it gives better barrel life. Load info is really close to the .243 so that isn't hard to figure out. I also am going on the cheap for dies and will just use 6mm BR dies held high and I'll just neck size. It's one of my own projects, so who knows when I'll actually get to it, but I'll have the reamer. Seems I'm always busy helping everyone else.

    195 grain berger 7mm mag

My brother just picked the 195's up today, gunna run them out of the STW's. As soon as we get to try them out we can let you know how they do. With the potential velocity out of the STW and that 195.. looks like it could be tough to beat for some long range tipping action.

    .243 Reamer, anyone?

No .243.. but will have a 6mm Supe LR reamer before too long.. which is basically a modified 243 case

    Man Cave items for sale

I will be adding a few items to this so check back and see whats new. Going through my stuff and getting rid of a few things to get some new things.. Shoot me a txt or something. Todd 602-677-3791 First up is the Nightforce angle inclinator.. to tell you what angle you are shooting at to calculate your long shots. Only reason I am selling is because I now have a range finer that gives me the angle. These are about $115 new. .. priced at $60 because of a couple minor dings that do not affect function. ***spoken for*** well taken care of Vortex Razor 10x50 these things are bright! I have the box and everything for these. $550 I havent used this one in a while, the last trip it took was to the manufacturer for repairs after getting sand in it and so now it works as good as new. $60 This video camera is great! Comes w the protective carring case that fits easily in your pack and weighs almost nothing, fits in the palm of you hand. This camera had very good reviews when i bought it shoots in HD and it has a 50x zoom for your long range shots! Just in time for your hunts! $375 This head was sent to me in error and I couldn't ever figure who to cantact to get it sent back.. juat trying to recoup some of my money. The head is brand new and is built like a tank, very solid! $50 I was told these are Leupold Mark 4 rings... they are solidly built! I dont klneed these and figured someone else could use them at a reduced rate. My best guess they would be considered a High ring. They are 30mm. These rings are aluminum. They were painted before I had them and I stripped all the paint off. $60 and thats half of what they would cost new! ***spoken for*** Harris bipod, very good condition 6-9" non swivel. $30 ***spoken for*** great little camera that ive had for a few years now. If you just need a digital camera and don't want to spend a ton of money here ya go. Has served me well on many hunts and family gatherings and whatever else. Has video capabilities also. $60
