  1. Non residents are up to 10% but not guaranteed. maybe that 24 point holder was a non resident? Also maybe he put in for another unit(like 10) with more issued tags? Wouldnt he pull that even as his second choice being a max point holder essentially? Idk

Definitely not guaranteed 10% but in this case res or nr he should have been guaranteed a tag. In the other example if his second choice he was also in the bonus pass he would get his first choice before the second.

  2. Reject card?

Only thing I could think of but wasn't sure if they made the list if you were rejected. Then the two guys with 23 would have to be NR applying on the same app. Find it hard to believe two NR with 23 applied together when they know they can't draw together but either way seems a little strange.

  3. Heck even better question is there are 35 tags. Last I checked 20% of 35 was 7. But they say there's only 5 tags in the bonus pass on the sheet I just listed. But even with 5 tags in the bonus pass there is one available for a NR so it still doesn't make sense.

  4. I feel like I know the draw fairly well and am stumped on this. Was bored looking through the draw report and looked at hunt 3004 (unit 9 early rifle) 35 total tags. That's 7 tags for the bonus pass. 10% for NR would be 3.5 which is rounded to 3. Only half of that can to NR in the bonus pass which is 1.5 which rounds to 1. So no matter how you look at it there is 1 tag for a NR available in the bonus pass and 6 for residents. How did the guy with 24 points whether resident or NR not draw a tag? Only one guy with 24 points applied and it was his first choice. Similar with the guys with 23. If by some unknown reason the guy with 24 points didnt draw how did the guys with 23 points not draw either? Am I missing something or do you agree there was a mess up? (The guys with 23 I could see if they were NR and on the same app they couldnt draw the one tag but the guy with 24 I think got screwed)

  5. Watch the video of a guy hitting steel at 202 yards. With a slight crosswind correction, lands a perfect shot on the second attempt.

hoghntr: Thanks for all your honest input on the topic. I've enjoyed hearing your perspective as a crossbow permit holder. Please enlighten us, can you crossbow do this?

Someone with the right practice can hit steel at 200 yards with a crossbow. After all the weapons shoot the projectile the same speed. Using air to push it out doesn't give it magical properties to be more accurate. I've seen videos of guys hitting targets at 200+ with a compound bow as well. Does that mean they hunt with them at 200? Or that the arrow would even kill anything at 200?

  6. I have no idea who made up the number of 2-300 yards. It's literally just a made up number. 100 yards maybe 110-120 is the max you're gonna get out of one of these. A regular crossbow shoots the bolts the same speed at 450 fps. Just because it uses air instead of energy from a limb it suddenly can launch the arrows 200 extra yards?

  7. I say ban archery rut hunts if you're allowed to use everything but a rifle with a letter from a doctor. Real talk. Life isn't fair

life isn't fair but there's nothing wrong with letting more people in on the sport. The percentage of people with crossbow permits vs regular archery hunters is miniscule. If a couple guys get to go have a good time when they otherwise couldn't and can enjoy the woods like the rest of the archery world what's wrong with that?

You may not have typed anything regarding the pope and young and crossbows but it's in the file you attached from the az bowhunters association. I'm curious if you have something to do with the association and if that truly is their official stance on the subject and if BIA record book has the same stance. If so please contact me so I can withdraw my membership and any animals I have entered.

Would you like me to pull your buck from P&Y... among other reasons? Ed F

If that's pope and youngs stance on the subject too, absolutely. I have a brother that has never been interested in trying bowhunting due to a medical condition. Until this proposal came out and he's over the top excited about it now knowing he has an equal chance of taking an animal. If an organization is against that I don't want to be a member. I appreciate what pope and young and ABA does for people in our sport and if that's their stance that's fine. I just don't want to support it when it hurts my family member.

  9. Crossbows literally shoot the same speed and Noone is crying about that? If you can shoot an airbow 200 yards you can shoot a crossbow 200 yards as well. You'd think doctors wouldn't lie in a medical form to get guys a crossbow. There's nothing game and fish can do about that.
