    Badlands 2200

I have for sale a Badlands 2200 in Realtree Maxx-1. This is the new style 2200 and I paid around $270.00 for this pack. I am asking $240.00 for the pack it was used for one day and has no rips, tears, stains, odors, or any other potential problems that you could possibly think of. This pack has plenty of storage and pockets as well as the holster for a sidearm. Here is a link for a better description of the pack:http://www.badlandspacks.com/gear/packs/badlands-2200-hunting-pack If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Thanks for looking.

    Coues or Muley

Well just like the title says, is this a Coues or a Muley?
  3. I know this story is a little late in the year, but I thought I'd share it anyway! This is my second archery coues deer with my Mathews Jewel. I hunted for 8 long days in the best unit in the world (27) and bagged this boy all on my own. It was my first hunt that my dad let me do on my own! I loved the experience of it but it is definitely better to have someone experience it with you and share that story. Anyways, I made a perfect shot right through the lungs at 30 yds. He went maybe 40 yds before he dropped dead:) I shot him with a grim reaper broad head (as well as my 2014 buck) and I will never use any other broad head again! There amazing-in my personal opinion. Also, I don't care if any of you think he's "too small" because I love him and am very proud of him! Thanks for reading! Good hunting, Shelby Teel P.S. If anyone missed my 2014 buck it's on my page, check it out!

    Some new photos from May

For Mother's Day this year, my son & his girlfriend took me kayaking on the Salt River. The horses never cease to amaze me, but this was the first time I've kayaked through the middle of the herd. I couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Day gift than this. Plus a very nice man took our picture with a drone and e-mailed it to us. I'm the one in the back teaching my grandbaby dog how to ride on a kayak. I was sure hoping he wasn't taking pictures at first because Koa needed a little time to get used to riding on the kayak and it was a bit of an embarrassing adventure at first. I really don't know what to say, but what a cute smile (please zoom in on this one) These were taken during my feeble attempt at turkey hunting this year. I was supposed to go a different time, but ended up at the Tucson Mule Deer Federation Banquet and was so glad I did. I've never been to a banquet like that before and they do absolutely wonderful things for the mule deer in our state! It was almost better than turkey hunting, but not quite...lol I did manage to see the end of a rainbow (my first) while turkey hunting, lots of deer & elk, and quite a bit of snow but I struck out in the turkey department. REPTILES I recently came across this Gila Monster. I can still count on one hand how many I've seen in the wild. Patch nose snake that had recently eaten another snake (notice the lumpy body). Invasive soft shell turtle I caught with my fishing pole Glossy snake & I thought the picture of me taking this picture was kinda neat so I'm including it too. I do have a long lens, but I still have to get somewhat close. Greater Earless & Desert Spiny lizards A very angry Gopher Snake Photographed on foot at 50 yards (not by the lakes - this was a different unit). It was interesting. They are so different than deer or elk. I felt like I was their zoo and it was me they came to see. The little guy was a complete stitch to watch. He was running and jumping everywhere. Sure was fun to watch. And finally this summer don't forget to TAKE A KID FISHING!

  7. So me and my dad are putting in for deer this year in unit 3a/3c. I have hunted the area before a couple of years ago, but it was for elk not deer. I am sort of familiar with the area but it has been 2 years since i have been back. I would like to hear from anyone that has had any luck up there and maybe point me in the right direction. I am not looking for anyones honey hole or hot spots i would just like a general knowledge of where a good area would be to start scouting. After I get done with school, I plan on making a few trips up there and setting up some game cameras. Just any advice would be helpful to maybe stay away from the burnout or what not. And it is the later october hunt.
  8. Finally got out and did some hunting after much too long of a break. We had a lot of stands busted by other hunters-archery deer, javelina and quail hunters, but still managed to have a good time and some success. I called in a double one morning and took one. Another morning I called in my first deer, a nice 3x4 mule deer buck and his 5 does. He was rutting them hard. The does were real curious about the sounds I was making. I also called in another coyote tthat couldn't be taken by my partner, we decided it was going to be a shotgun stand and the yote was out too far. I had my 12 ga/.223 combo gun at the ready, but I didn't see the dog come in. Can't wait to get out again! The coyote we took
  9. Comrades, The cape and horns of the buck on the right has been delivered to the taxidermist. I asked him to wait until after this year in case I get a larger coues. This year I got the Coues on the left. It green scored 87+... the one on the right scored 85. Both are really pretty symmetrical racks... The left deer with about 2" deductions, the one on the right, less than 1" deductions. Any recommendations of which rack to use?
  10. Need help for upcoming coues deer hunt with bow.v I have been doing some fact gathering for an upcoming archery coues deer hunt in unit 27. My brother and i both have a tag and plan on starting Jan 2nd. We plan to roll light with enough to be away from truck for 3-4 days . I have spoken with a couple people regarding starting places. We plan on spending time in both wilderness areas inside the coronado. Any advice would be appreciated such as 1. what tactics in january would you use, water hole, spot/stalk/ travel corridors , etc 2. where would you hunt? 3. other than the coronado , can the BLM land north of coronado be hunted? the black mountains, etc? 4. any tactics , grunting / rattling to take advantage of rut? 5. any advice on the illegal situation in that area, dangers, do/donts? thanks for any input , its our first run down to this area. thanks in advance for any help.

    2014 IDAHO DEER HUNT

My daughter Tessa and myself were invited to Idaho this year to hunt deer on our friend ranch Karl Tyler. He owns a 25000 acre ranch in Leadore Idaho I had just purchased a truck from his dealership in Missoula Montana a 2014 Chevy my wife's best friend Sandy Tyler delivered it to us just in time for my wonderful wife's birthday. After a great weekend Sandy suggested that we come to the ranch for a deer hunt I said what the heck lets do it. Well the days flew by, before I knew it was time to hunt. I agreed to let my daughter Tessa have first shot after checking a few of the farm fields and looking over 50 deer we had made a plan on what to do. After a short stalk we were only 300 yards from a group of 5 bucks all shooters all Tessa could see was there heads so we moved a little closer after a short wait one finally presented a shot my 7 mm atop a tripod locked down on the claw she was ready for a shot. As usual one well placed shot had her deer on the ground , once again I was one proud dad just over a month ago she had taken her antelope at over 400 yards. After taking her deer back to the ranch I went back out only to choke on a great buck and shoot a much smaller buck maybe Tessa can give me some pointers she is an amazing young lady I am so proud of her, we have a muzzle loader elk hunt in 3b coming up. she told me I can have first shot since she's not worried about me getting a bigger one I sure do love that kid.

    Pics of my latest outing

I was out for a couple days and snapped some pics. I have to say it's nice when someone says "Did you see anything?" and instead of just a "yes" I can show them some of the things I saw. What you don't get to see is another 2 groups of bulls, a buck, turkeys, and a couple coyotes. The bulls all had voracious appetites as it appears they are prepping themselves for battle. I was also treated to a little symphony last night. It sounded like a young bull testing out his vocals, but it was music to my ears and a sound I really look forward to hearing each year. To all with bull tags, you are lucky Check out his left side turkey foot! I really love this picture! I really don't know what I did to deserve her sticking her "tongue" out at me! The antelope pics were taken from my camp on morning number one (there were 2). That's a nice way to start the day! Peek-A-Boo

    Playing God

Right or Wrong ? Heres a photo of a high fence, steroid filled, genetically altered Whitetail. Some of you may have known of him. He was known as "Sudden Impact". I believe that he finally passed away from the immense weight on his head. I think that anyone who mutates an animal like this should suffer the same fate. Any thoughts ? untitled.bmp

What type of plant is this?

Hoping someone on here knows their plants and deer / elk biology better than I do. I found these plants popping up in large amounts at a couple of areas that I've been keeping an eye on that typicaly holds elk and mule deer. They are spreading like ground cover. Some already have flowers and some haven't sprouted yet. My question is, is this edible for deer or elk, or is it a noxious weed that's not good for an area?
