    BULLWINKLE DOWN!!!

Well We headed off for Jody's DREAM HUNT.....Bull Moose in the North West Territories. Needless to say we were a bit excited. Jody planned on harvesting a big bull with her bow. When we got there we got slammed with a heat wave. Somehow we had pulled the Tucson heat with us clear up there. 70+ degrees, even reaching 80 Degrees one day!!! It did not help us when it comes to rutting moose. The big bulls were hot a lazy and the hunt turned into a spot and stalk deal rather quickly. As you can see from some of the pictures almost not possible in the SLIGHT BRUSH hahahaha. Just as an example we tried to put a stalk on a big bull. He was right a two miles away. It took us 6 hours to get there!!! We thought we were in relatively good shape but nothing can prepare you for pushing through 7 foot deep willows and brush. Over nine days Jody passed on several smaller bulls with her bow. Finally on the 10th day, and last morning (we were scheduled to fly out that night), we glassed up three big bulls and started calling. We managed to finally call this bull into rifle range and she elected to shoot him with the gun rather than come home empty handed. (I did manage to get a couple pics of him through the binos) We watched as he made his way towards us from 3/4 of a mile away. It was dead calm and his grunting echoed up the mountain the whole time. It was just like TV I was thinking!!! As the seconds turned into minutes the wind started to pick up a swirl. I was terrified he was going to wind us. He got to this little pond 440 yards away and was getting a drink perfectly broadside, Jody wasn't letting him get away! After pounding him three times (first shot probably did the trick, but we weren't taking chances) he finally tipped over and she could lay claim to her prize. SHE WAS PUMPED to say the least!!! I think the pictures do more justice than any typing that I can do to describe it so I will let them speak for themselves!!! Hope you all enjoy! For me it was an experience of a lifetime watching Jody accomplish one of her lifetime Dreams. Congrats again HONEY!!!
