  1. I couldn't believe it when I saw the $90 hit on my card this year. I knew it was my best change to draw with a unit that has had 0 hunts in the last 4 years, hoping people didn't notice there were new tags or not wanting to put in if the herd had declined that much to take tags away. Either way I was lucky enough to draw my first antelope tag. With only 1 archery hunt before and only 1 other hunter seems like we'll be able to have the place to ourselves. I can't wait to get out scouting as I've never really had the chance to watch antelope other than seeing them off the sides of highways. If any one has tag number 1 or knows them, DM me so we can hopefully stay out of each others way on the hunt. Good luck to everyone else lucky enough to draw an antelope tag this year!
  2. I'm first time Pronghorn hunter and have a General 19A tag Sept 2021. I've been scouting and road familiarity over the last two months when able to drive up the hill. Access is definitely challenging with this GMU! Would some experienced hunters be willing to share or confirm my newbie findings on finding success? I'm not concerned about P&Y score, as much as getting a respectable buck size and memories to last a lifetime. I'm excited and nervous over the potentially 36 less bucks to hunt (killed by archery and muzz) before my Sept hunt starts. While I've spoken to some land owners and AZGFD Warden about access to private land, it appears I'm either short on cash or late to the game for property privileges. So my hunt will be entirely on State Trust land and Prescott NF. I'm physically capable to hike in where most people won't.Yesterday I was glassing north Fain Ranch. Last week driving/observing Perkinsville Road from Chino to APS substation. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Feel free to PM me. Thank you in advance!
  3. GAME AND FISH NEWS Jan. 17, 2020 Reminder: Applications for 2020 pronghorn, elk hunts due soon Raptor capture seasons now included in latest draw process PHOENIX — The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) reminds hunters that the deadline to apply for 2020 hunt permit-tags issued through the draw process for pronghorn and elk is right around the corner. To apply, visit www.azgfd.gov and click on “Apply for a Draw.” For an overview of the application service, including license requirements, applying for bonus points and payment information, see Page 10 of the “2020 Pronghorn, Elk and Raptor Capture Hunt Draw Information” booklet. Printed booklets are available at all department offices and license dealers statewide. Attention falconers: Raptor capture seasons are included in this booklet. A valid hunting or hunt and fish combination license, along with a sport falconry license, are needed when applying for a hunt permit-tag. For more information, see Page 38. All applications must be received by AZGFD no later than 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020. All applicants are encouraged to purchase PointGuard, which allows hunters to surrender their hunt permit-tag(s) for any reason without losing their bonus points. Information: www.azgfd.gov/pointguard. AZGFD is standing by to assist applicants. All department offices are equipped with customer computers that can be accessed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Surrendered Tag. Unit 9

Missed a call yesterday from AZGFD. Then got the email. "You were next in line for unit 9 Pronghorn hunt". Called them this morning after a tough night of deciding to go or not since the hunt starts in a week. After weighing all the pros and cons, the cons won. Too good of a tag to go up there half-assed. I have been waiting a long time and when I do draw, I will spend months scouting, shooting, and planning my hunt. It was hard to turn it down, but I think it was the right decision. Hopefully it goes to a deserving hunter. Wish they let me know a few months ago, then it would be a no-brainer. BTW, the Gal at Game and Fish was super nice and was a pleasure to talk with.
  5. Selling for a buddy... a pair of Danner Pronghorn 8 inch boots. He used them one time when we backpacked together into unit 27 in AZ for archery deer last January. He was told that with Danner he needed to buy a size bigger than he normally would. But after that hunt, he found out that Danner is consistent in their boot sizes. He normally sports a 10.5 D, but these are 11 D. They appear to be the uninsulated pronghorn, but I dont know for sure. Besides our two day hunt in 27, these boots are in dang good shape. Call or text 480-773-5577 Chris $100.00 obo I live in the White Mountains and that is where the boots are located.

Az Pronghorn and Cinnamon Black bear

Two more trophies going home....these "wall pedestals" are becoming a very popular way to upgrade your mount without the space and cost of a full pedestal. Love the color on this bear....

    opening day 19A archery

What a blazing hot day! watched this buck for 3 Weeks,he had one doe with him the entire time.He was definately rutting as he chased off any of the many smaller bucks cruisin his territory. The blind me and my buddy Todd had set up weeks earlier had been completely destroyed so we set up a new one the day before the opener with this buck watching us the entire time from a couple of hundred yards away.Got into the blind at 4AM after a 3mile bike ride in the dark.He came in at noon from the rear of the blind at caught me by suprise. He scooted out to 40 yards and I took the shot in about a 20 mph crosswind. My arrow drifted a couple of inches and got him in the liver. He bolted and continued to run about a half mile and out of my line of sight.I ran to ridge and could only see one small buck in the valley and not this one. Went back to blind and retreived my arrow which was covered in blood,Not a single drop of blood on the ground to follow. I returned to the ridge and systematically began to glass the valley. After a half hour or so and becoming a little worried I noticed with my eyes a tiny white fleck about 3/4 of a mile away.I gassed the spot and could not tell for sure so I beat a path towards it.About halfway i glassed again and could see a leg. You could have punched me,I was on cloud nine and ran like heck.Thank God for giving me the will to not stop looking in the heat. He had bedded down and bled out then died in a thick patch of chollas. For the first time in my hunting days I actually got heat blisters on my feet through my boots. He rough scored 82 inches. Cant wait to get some steaks for the grill. Did not get good pic at kill site, camera was in blind and I had to gut him and get to locker, thats why he is in the tall grass to hide the belly.
