It was horrible. It seems like all of the outfitters and guides post under social media and I have yet to see anything to write home about. Tough year for sure.

Thats a great ol photo, seems like I've seen it but can't place it?? Story behind it?

Can you imagine the shame!!! It's a repeating rifle! Your not a real hunter if you can't get it done with one bullet.

Everyone I know with either Kiabab or strip hunts this year said all the hunts were super tough and big bucks were much harder to come by than a normal year.

I'm guessing that was about 1950 or earlier. The population in 1940 was 500,000 and 750,000 in 1950. Fewer people and so may deer they ate everything they could reach, and cowboys tried to round them up to relocate them.

No need for a scope back then.

Cause you were alive and  hunting up there then?

Lots of historical info about the Kaibab if you want to take the time to do the research.

I have heard from numerous people that it was a very tough year up on the Bab.  I think the biggest buck I have heard taken on the late hunt was a mid-180s buck. Have not heard much about the Strip either.

Water everywhere had them scattered, and the big Magnum burn has not recovered enough yet to draw the deer into it.  The deer are all in the transition, and that is thick and hard to glass.  More like quail hunting, trying to jump a buck and get a good look, then a good shot is hard to do.
