I was at mcmillan  and Josh was showing  me stocks for my 280ai  build  and said  something  like that . So I asked  what that was about  . Answer  was comb height in relation  to scope with  scope as low as possible  . Some  stocks are made  for specific  dia scopes.  I had never heard  of this  before  about two weeks  ago.

This. I also was unaware of it when I bought the stock.

I would think cheek weld is what is most important and you can get that with high rings.  Your 44mm  scope will be about 1/2' higher off the barrel then a 56mm scope would be.  The only disadvantage is aesthetics if you can live with that.

Have you actually tried it with your scope?

Good luck with your sell.

Yes. I had a scope on it for about a year and one hunt. It just didn't work so I replaced it with a standard hunting profile McMillan stock last year. It would have looked goofy with higher rings and probably would have made little difference. Eric's guys did a nice job on it and other than a few trips the range and one hunt in Sonora which lasted two days it has sat in the safe looking for it's new home.
