I took a class put on by my work called "dirt medicine” about 8 months ago and it changed things for me. It was a no-frills, nitty-gritty, class on how to basically keep people alive taught by ex special forces and military medics. Since then, i put together my own IFAK and carry one in my vehicle and one in my pack. I don’t know how many times i’ve cut myself bad while dressing an animal and had to just tie some cloth around it or something. I got cut really deep by a havalon this year and had my kit. It was a huge relief to know that i had the supplies to treat it. Lots of gauze, tape, chest seals, tourniquet, scissors and super glue is what i pack around. You could honestly put together a couple good ones for about $50 total. This is the outfit that taught the class. I’d seriously recommend it.

I just did the same. Didn't want to come in advertising but it was the same crew and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Highly recommended.

They mentioned a free 2 hour condensed class every second Saturday of the month for anyone and their families.
