AR15

Recommended Posts

I traded into this a while back and don't shoot it much at all.

FMK lower, DPMS upper 1-9 twist 16 barrel"
Shoots factory 55 gr ammo very well.
Maybe 200 rounds through it in all.

Will come with two 30 round mags, one 40 round mag, and one 60 round mag.

$600

5.56?

55gr is typically 5.56, but good to get a clarification. 1-9 twist is typically great for 55 gr from my experience and understanding.1-8 and 1-7 twist for heavier loads like 64gr. and 77gr.

Could be 223, 5.56, 223 wylde

My error, yes, .223 (not quite a 5.56 but in the same family and nearly identical). The Wylde is typically the barrel set up to receive either 223 or 5.56 more generously.

I habitually, although not correctly, tend to group the 223 with the 5.56 since they are in the same family and I don't encounter the 223 barrel, other than 223 Wylde, in the AR platform. So my apologies.

22 Nosler does come in 55gr and 224 Valkyrie could potentially be 55gr although normally a heavier grain is used, like 90gr in a Valkyrie and also 77gr in a Nosler.

Also, if you can find the barrel, the 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 219 Donaldson Wasp, 220 Swift, 221 Remington Fireball, 222 Remington, 223 WSSM, 224 Valkyrie, and 225 Winchester, among others could have 55 gr bullets and may be used in the AR platform.

I'm sure someone else more knowledge could even add more.

Currently, I'm getting ready to play with my AR 17-223. 223 necked down to 17 cal. Should make a great Varmint rifle.
