New Products Intel from Camera Land

There's been quite a few new product announcements recently so we figured if you can find the time to read up on it all we'll take the time to inform you. In no particular order.....

Steiner H6Xi Riflescope Series
Following last year's release of the T6Xi series of tactical riflescopes, Steiner Optics, known for precision made riflescopes and binoculars with industry leading light transmission and clarity, releases a new lineup of premium optics designed with the modern big game hunter in mind—just in time for the 2023 hunting season.

Boasting similar military and law-enforcement DNA as the T6Xi tactical riflescope series, the all-new H6Xi series is designed for serious hunters who demand an optic that blends unfailing precision, versatility, and exceptional optical performance in a package capable of conquering the most extreme hunting environments.

The H6Xi series is comprised of three models, covering those who count ounces on the trail to those looking for enhanced magnification. The first focal plane 6x optical system is offered in 2-12x42mm, 3-16x50mm, and 5-30x50mm zoom ranges, and sets new benchmarks and expectations in what German-inspired, American-made hunting scopes should be.

Milled from solid aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, the H6Xi 30mm tube delivers a rugged waterproof, fog proof, and shockproof design with weight and compactness in mind. Several additional key features have been incorporated for hunters who stand ready for difficult shots.

Optical clarity and maximum light transmission come courtesy of Steiner's world-renowned HD (high density) lenses. These are backed by the illuminated Steiner MHR reticle set to the first focal plane. This Modern Hunting Reticle presents duplex crosshairs for quick aiming in the lower magnification range and precise, illuminated denotation for wind drift and bullet drop when zoomed in for distant shots. Matched with 92% light transmission and a wide field of view, the H6Xi riflescopes ensure hunters can locate their targets and apply a sighting solution quickly and easily in the most challenging conditions.

A low-profile elevation turret is sized to reduce the snag-and-bump potential common to hunting scopes with tall target-style turrets. Easy-to-read numbers, tactile detents with audible clicks, and a zero click stop let hunters make confident and precise adjustments even in low light conditions. A capped windage knob ensures piece of mind when trudging through brush or bumping against rocks.

Further adding to its diverse capabilities in changing environmental and shooting conditions, the H6Xi offers 11 illumination settings. Two night vision settings, four night settings, and five day settings ensure shooters can always find the right illumination regardless of the scene.

Backing the illumination dial is the focus adjustment knob. Tuned for the broadest shooting range spectrum, the fine parallax adjustment extends from 25 yards to infinity so you can always be confident of point-of-aim, point-of-impact performance.

Ergonomically, the H6Xi boasts a lightweight design—an important consideration for the modern backcountry hunter, where ounces equal pounds. To accommodate gloved and wet hands, all knobs and the power adjustment ring feature aggressive knurling for no-slip operation. The diopter also comes with a locking ring, meaning there is no chance of accidentally moving the eyepiece out of focus.

Steiner continually seeks merge the latest technology and precision manufacturing with optic designs to match specific needs for the demanding hunter. The new H6Xi series riflescopes certainly deliver—whether you are pursuing sheep on windswept mountain ranges or stalking whitetail in the hardwoods.

Leupold BX-4 Range HD TBR/W 10x42mm Binocular
When speed is paramount, there’s no substitute for a rangefinding binocular. The BX-4 Range HD TBR/W 10x42mm fuses Leupold’s DNA engine and ballistics software with the optical performance diehard hunters and shooters demand.

“The BX-4 Range HD combines the industry’s fastest ranging solution with Leupold’s unparalleled optical performance,” said Product Line Manager Eric Overstreet. “It’s easy to use, it’s incredibly fast, and it offers a clearer display than anything else in its price class.”

A true hybrid of tech and optical performance, the BX-4 Range HD combines Leupold’s DNA laser engine and ballistics software with the company’s award-winning BX-4 binocular, allowing hunters and shooters to spot and range targets at the same time without wasting valuable seconds switching between gear. Its high contrast red OLED display delivers visible readouts in any light, and its edge-to-edge resolution makes glassing sessions easy on the eyes.

The BX-4 Range HD is built around Leupold’s Elite Optical System. It delivers excellent dawn to dusk light transmission for a bright image when it matters most, elite-level glare reduction in harsh light, and the resolution and clarity diehard hunters and shooters demand. Compare it to other rangefinding binoculars in its class, and you’ll notice a significant difference, especially in low light.

Looking for a ballistic solution that promises something as simple as range, dial, shoot? Leupold’s True Ballistic Range/Wind (TBR/W) technology takes precision to the next level by offering 25 selectable ballistics groups that account for your preferred cartridge, helping you dial in the exact range of your target. Using the rifleman's rule on an angled 600-yard shot could result in a 10–15-inch margin of error when compared to the dead-on accuracy of Leupold’s TBR/W. And with TBR/W’s 10-mph wind holds, you’ll have all the information you need to experience more first shot hits. Combine that accuracy with Leupold’s Custom Dial System and you’ll be on target in seconds. The BX-4 Range HD ranges reflective targets at 2,600 yards, trees at 1,600 yards and deer-sized game at 1,100 yards.

“Hunters and shooters have been asking us to develop a rangefinding binocular for years,” said Tim Lesser, Vice President of Product Development and Marketing for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “We weren’t going to come to market until we had the product that Leupold consumers both demand and require. The BX-4 Range HD is that product. Its rangefinding solution and optical performance are the best in its class, hands down.”

Further, it is ambidextrous. Left-handed consumers can access the easy-to-use menu and configure the unit to be operated with the left hand. The BX-4 Range HD delivers superior ruggedness and is tested for extreme climates. It is waterproof and fogproof.

Zeiss Expands Line-up with New Thermal Imaging Cameras
With the introduction of the DTI 1 and DTI 4, ZEISS is unveiling two new thermal imaging cameras for hunting. The ZEISS DTI 3 GEN 2 builds upon the DTI 3 thermal imaging camera which was first introduced in 2020. The ZEISS DTI family have several features in common including intuitive ergonomics and ease of use, an exceptional viewing experience, as well as sophisticated power management, and seamless connectivity with the ZEISS Hunting App. “With the new DTI 1, DTI 4, and the second generation of the successful DTI 3, we offer a complete line of thermal imaging cameras for all hunting applications and at a variety of price points,” reported Constantin Klug, Category Manager for Hunting at ZEISS.

Thermal imaging cameras are an essential piece of hunting gear that help make hunting safer and more successful. The entry level model, the ZEISS DTI 1, is a compact and lightweight thermal imaging camera with features such as Transition Zoom, which enables uninterrupted observation thanks to the continuous zoom effect, as well as personalized settings. The camera comes with a new detection mode and eight color modes for your customization. With 0.5 zoom increments, it offers the ideal combination of zoom and detail recognition for reliable identification. The new ZEISS DTI 1 is available in two different focal lengths: the DTI 1/19 with a field of view of 72 ft at 100 yds, and the DTI 1/25 with a field of view of 55 ft at 100 yds.

“The ZEISS DTI 3 GEN 2 builds upon the DTI 3 thermal imaging camera and offers a significant upgrade in terms of hardware and software features. The new image processor and AMOLED display delivers an advancement in image quality for a remarkably detailed and sharp image,” noted Klug. In addition to the performance features of the DTI 1, the DTI 3 GEN 2 also has other features, such as the movement alert, which emits a visual signal when a heat source moves, or practical shortcut keys, which enables a fast feature operation without the need to go into the menu. The DTI 3 GEN 2 comes in two focal lengths: the DTI 3/25 with a detection range of 1,017 yds, and the DTI 3/35 with a range of 1,422 yds.

“With the DTI 4, we’ve taken image quality to another level to help hunters identify game even more accurately and reliably than ever before,” Klug said. Building on the features of the DTI 3 GEN 2, the DTI 4 is highlighted by its high resolution 640 x 512 px sensor with 12 μm pixel pitch. “This delivers superior image quality at all zoom levels and increased detection range – for enhanced detail recognition and a sharp, high-contrast image, at longer distances.” For this reason, the DTI 4 is available in two focal lengths: the DTI 4/35 and the DTI 4/50 with a detection range of over 2,000 yds for both models.
