Neck surgery

my brother had a similar surgery a few years ago.  he was literally months away from being paralyzed.   hard time walking and couldn't lift his arms. he had the surgery and is "better" now but not "good" .  He can walk and climb stairs but still strugles with balance on uneven ground.  He HAD to do the surgery. It did change his standard of life but at least he is functional and alive.

Did he have a degenerative disease?

yes, but more a combination of factors. We were both born with a hereditary bone issue in our neck and spine.  Then he had several work accidents and then got hit by a rougue wave at the beach.  combined with age(56 at the time) he was losing mobility daily.

My mother and her three sisters and my grandmother started having lower back issues in their 80's.  I'm only in my 70's and get some numbness in my hips. Pretty active. Sit in the office a few days a week and hustle on jobsites the other days. Carrying 8-12' ladders doing HVAC and Electrician stuff.

I had it done at 58. Fixed my problems... quality of life, numbness in my arms, couldn't glass for more than 30 minutes, struggling to shoot my bow... They went in through the front. It's been 3 years. Ed F
