brent Report post Posted September 3 Okay, how did you do that 5n? On my old Toyota the tail gate popped off and I could position it as a ramp. Then alternated between two ratchet tie downs to pull the elk up the ramp.
Crazymonkey Report post Posted September 6 I got one of those winch mounts for the roll bar on the back of my sxs . Tip the bed and run the winch line around the front half just behind the legs and give it a pull . Then tip the bed to lock . Ive also used the front winch and pulled around a tree to the bed to get a elk in . That was way harder to do . Hopefully the new setup works as advertised and it's much easier. I'm not getting any younger so I've got to work smarter not harder.
Crazymonkey Report post Posted September 6 Ive also done the front winch and lifted a elk up then tied to a tree and backed under method . Was quick to load but u need a solid tree high enough and a strong rope . Then you have to be able to free the winch line to back under . It worked and we were loaded in 10 minutes and out .

This is pretty much what I had in mind, although I don't really want to go to the trouble/cost for something this elaborate for the occasional hunt. I was thinking about a similar mount with a boat winch that uses a strap that can be easily mounted/removed. Thanks for the idea, and your right, as we get older we need to worker smarter instead of harder.

I was watching a hunting show over the weekend and they had a setup from a sponser that spanned across the bed of a UTV. It had a switch on a cable and was rated for 350#'s. Amusing to see three grown men standing around using it to load a 200# deer but you get the idea.
