Fire N.E. of Payson

Recommended Posts

This fire is about 5 miles North of my house :o

It started in the valley in the right of the pictures. (Water Wheel camp area)

Within 20 minutes it had made a run up the hill to the top and continues traveling west

along the Little Diamond towards Geronimo Estates.

If you are familiar with the areaa the fire is directly above Beaver Valley to the north.

Beaver Valley and Whispering Pines have been evacuated and I believe they are getting

ready to evacuate Verde Glen and the Washington Park area which means it must have jumped

the Control road which is on the back side of the hill.

Last picture is threw my 15's

Holy smokes! I hope you are out of harm's way!

How is the Payson water supply situation? Has it improved any?

Let us know if you need help, and we will send up the bucket brigade!

 We are safe at this time but the wind could change :(

They will be fighting hard to keep the South safe as there are several small communitys

between me and the fire.

Prayers are appreciated thou ;)

No Brent the water situation is only worse :(

Hope this is a good sign

Fire006.jpg

Looks like it is making a run well into Hells Half Acres :(

That would be bad for Geronimo Estates an Flowing Springs.

More so for G.Estates as it would be a uphill run to them.

I'm calling bogus.....look at the date on the pics :)

All kidding aside I hope they get that bad boy under control.....it would be nice if the Lord did it via a big fat rain storm

Doug I did see the Slurrys drop about 5:30 but from what a friend told me (Hearsay)

They have to go to Winslow to reload and he had heard it takes either 45 minutes or

1Hour 45 minutes to make the round trip.

There is one small helicopter working it but they just can't haul much water.

Just a second ago I heard on the radio the have pulled off the air attack since night fall is here.

If anyone wants to hear updates they can hit the web and type in KMOG Radio.

They are simocasting (Spelling) on the web.

As normal the winds have died down and now the breeze is sinking back to the valleys

We are starting to get allot of smoke here

Here is a pic of where they are turning traffic around about a half mile past my house.

Hard to even see the flashing lights.

Think my wife is going to go stay with Firstgirl tonight in town and hope it is better there :(

New update as I was typing:

A type 2 team is on seen and will work through the night on structure protection

Mike,

I figured most aircraft, if not all, would have gone to CA. Have heard from a firefighter that the Winslow supply was closed and they now fly out of Prescott.

this is from last night

I have heard Tanker 00 and Air Attack 1 Echo Gulf on this incident

Also 2 new starts in the area 1 by Pine (a few miles NW of the Fire) and 1 by Washington park (just barely NW of the Fire) breaking resources off the Water Wheel to go check these out.

Tankers up at 0900 out of Prescott, Air Attack went into Falcon Field in Mesa for the night.

How far is that from Diamond point. News says started in a camp ground. What is the camp fire situation. If it is as dry as it looks no one should have a camp fire.
