I'm not sure a .17 is legal for javelina. You may want to check the regs. I think a .22 Mag is as small as you can go....

I thought it had to be centerfire.. (?)

You could kill one with a 17 for sure, but IMO it falls into the "bad idea" category ;)

I know you can use a .22 mag if it's from a rifle but not legal from a pistol.

It will do the job without a doubt. But my 2 cents is watch your shot placement. It is a fast round, but it's a small bullet. Bullet type?

I found that it isn't legal for Javelina. Check out the chart on page 96 of the "2009-2010 Hunting and Trapping Regulations " regulations.

For javelina you may legally use any centerfire rifle or a .22 mag. rifle. Call game and fish and get an exact awnser, but on the guide test that is the correct awnser.

i think it definatly do the trick if u used cci's explosive rounds, witch is just a hollow point, but it blows a real good sized hole. i dont think its legal, if not it should be it's prety much a collared down 22mag, thats something id call game and fish on thoug

.270 would be the better choice. IMO If you need to question if it will work or not go with what will work.
