Sroked! Drew unit 8 late rifle Bull! Advice?

Recommended Posts

So I've found out I drew unit 8 late season rifle bull! I'm really excited, my 1st bull tag! & Dad's 1st big game! Anyone with experience on this hunt that cpould give me some pointers & advice. Also I'm considering a scouting service (price range $300 or so) to increase our odds. Never hunted the unit and not lookin for trophys ( but I wont pass  ) just want to get my 1st bull on the ground & more importantly see my Dad knock one out! Any help is always appreciated and best of luck to all you lucky elk hunters who also drew a tag!!!! May the elk flock to you like the swallows of Capastrano!

contrary to popular belief late 8 can rock if you do your home work. ive had that hunt twice and tagged out both times the second with a 325 bull and ive seen even bigger bulls just before the hunts. things can change year to year so get up there and do your home work. it can get a little crowded at times so make sure you have a couple back up plans. if your not picky and work hard then you should both have no problem tagging out.

most people that get this tag don't no how tough It can be,but hunters who are In this unit year in and year out shoot 350 plus bulls every year.

If you don't no where to hunt this time of year or can scout like crazy you might want to shoot the first spike you see.

Seldom Drawn

The elk get bumped a lot w all the pressure from the prior hunts up there. We hunted up top last year and tagged a spike. All the elk we saw were on the move. Bigger bulls seem to recluse in canyons and thick nasty terrain. Id glass the lower elevations and transition areas for a bigger bull. BE PREPARED for SNOW! Goodluck. Ill be up there for that hunt.
