7mm-08 or 270 enough for a Black Bear?

Recommended Posts

I know shot placement and distance of shot are all factors in saying yes or no to bullet caliber, but under 400 yards with good shot placement and a quality bullet, would either of these calibers be enough to safely get the job done? Want to socut this summer for a fall bear

thanks

I believe that both of those calibers would be fine with the shot placement, good bullet criteria. Lots of elk have fallen to .270's. If you take out their lungs or heart, they aint goin far.

I would say yes as well. I saw a musk ox fall from one shot from a .270 with a good bullet 130 gr.

Great now I just need to find one of those critters. that's my summer scouting mission. Looking forward to learning about bear habitat. Seen a few on accident on hother hunts but have a ton to learn, at least I don't have to worry about my rifle
