SOLD! Savage 16 243 Stainless, super accurate, reloading supplies

Recommended Posts

REALLY hate to do it but have to sell to this beauty justify another rifle. This was going to be my lighter weight low recoiling backpack gun but decided I need a little more extended range after all so I'm going with a faster 6.5mm

Up for sale approx. 8 mos old. Savage model 16 Stainless trophy hunter XP model. Bell and Carlson didn't make the stock I wanted (realized this unfortunately after I bought the rifle when I went to order it ) so I had to modify this stock myself.

I Injected spray foam into hollow buttstock portion to help solidify and improve density, grooved and ran aluminum rods lengthwise into forearm and epoxy filled to strengthen and make more ridged. Stock is very stiff now. Skim bedded action, and glass bedded recoil lug & about 1/2" of the rear of the barrel at nut for a bit more support and ridgidity. Finished stock with a nice green textured finish. I have probably close to $70 alone just in materials for the stock finishing. I always get compliments on how sharp the gun looks and feels!

Comes with a Witt Machine clamp on muzzle brake that I haven't shot on this rifle yet, it's still loose. I have shot a buddy's 243 with his shooting same loads as mine and is VERY effective, also shot on a 300 winmag and extremely effective as well.

Includes the following....

I'll approximate prices for total I've got into it, not including tax, shipping, FFL fees

Savage 16- $625

Materials for stock- $70

Labor-Priceless haha :P

Muzzle brake-$95

107- berger 105 grn hybrids $39

434- Hornady 105grn Amax $108

15-Loaded rounds for fouling shots or whatever/brass (9 Hornady American Whitetail & 6 Amax reloads) $10

128 pcs-Hornady Brass, been impressed with it's quality $112

RCBS full length reloading dies-$36

RCBS neck sizer die (new and unused)-$31

Does not include scope or Bipod, stock bases and 1" rings that came with it.

Gun is incredibly accurate and I've shot a .150" group with it at 100 yards, see targets. 26pcs of the brass are trimmed, flash hole deburred, sized, and chamfered inside and out & ready to load!

I have over $1,200 into it

Asking $750 for everything

Low round count on this. Approx. 140 rounds. Just for break in and load development. Haven't even had this in the field yet, only the range.

The pics are hard to tell just what shade of green it is but this pic best depicts the actual shade (deep forest green).

Great BC on this little light round! .500 for the Amax and .547 for the Berger! Way better than my .300wsm was shooting bergers and a fraction on the recoil.

Noticed your from Safford, do you ever get down into the Sierra Vista area? Looking for something for my grandson, just not sure he needs something this expensive for his first centerfire.

No sorry I don't ever get out that way. I hear ya that it is a lot for his first center fire. Could get a great used one on here for a much better price I'm sure that he'd probably be just as happy with.

I'm having seconds thoughts about selling..... Darn it lol.

If its still here in a few days I may consider start splitting everything up? Maybe there's interest for this brake alone? I'll post the dimensions of my barrel and how to measure yours' if an inexpensive effective brake is needed without the wait.

How much for just the rifle?i already have the dies and stuff.

I'll probably let it run through the weekend then may split it up.

Interested in gun, rings, and brake then?

I'm going to keep the talley rings after all as I've got them on my new Savage 116 now.

I'll ask $800 for the package for a couple more days. I don't have a use for the brake alone so would have to go with the gun.

Alright.... rifle, 2 piece bases, 1" rings, and brake NOT including bipod asking $625

Got my new Savage yesterday, basically same rifle just in 6.5 caliber except long action. Wish I could just use this stock, now I'll have to put all that work back into new rifle haha :P

Man that gun looks nice to shoot. 243's rock! everyone NEEDS a good .243 :)

Back up TTT. Still for sale, nobody's quite pulled the trigger yet (pun intended)

Thanks Hog! It is for sure.

May consider a trade for a Leupold scope Mark4 6.5-20x50 TMR Reticle M1 turrets

I should be heading through the valley at the end of this month around the 27th-29th if it's still available
