The Journey to a Great Antelope Hunt! Picture Heavy!

Recommended Posts

It all started over a month and half ago!

Scouting for elk and antelope!

I took over 2000 pictures of antelope.

many mediocre at best.

Yet I had some pictures that came out relatively nice based on my run and gun style of scouting!

Meaning covering as much country as possible before the heat waves killed the picture taking excursion! Lol!

I would be assisting a very knowledgeable and a Robin Hood type shooter on an archery antelope hunt.

Wow! I was almost intimidated by the prospect of this challenge.

Trust me, I did my home work , I mean scouting, But then I usally do anyway. No brag ,just fact! And hard work.

On one instance I met Big Orange in the field he and I shared information.

After we were done talking I drove down the road to scout some more and saw a nice antelope . I called Big Orange to come and look at him. As I am looking thru my Nightforce spotting from the window of my truck a huge tire on a rim drops out of the sky in front of my view in my spotter.

I was sitting on the drivers side perpendicular to Hwy 89.

Needless to say I swung around in my seat and saw Big Orange come flying up in his Truck. He jumped out and ran up to me.

He said I watched that tire come off the axel of a big dump trailer roll right towards your truck and just before it hit your truck it bounced up and way over top of your cab!

It's was definitely divine intervention.

You see A couple years ago One of my friends son's was killed in Phx from a loose tire that bounced off a truck!

Thank God For Angels!!! I figure one of them stuck his foot out!!

The Hunt arrived much sooner than I expected.

We began our journey on $8000 worth of Mountain bikes! It was awesome !

Did 8 miles the first morning.

Lots of goats! Chased a few biggins!

We ended up drilling this bedded goat the 2nd morning of the hunt. I won't say how far but let me say this it was further than most guys can accurately shoot a rifle off hand and it was on purpose. A chip shot for my hunter!

My actual hunting story is short but longer than our actual hunt .Lol

These pictures are the epic journey to the hunt! Enjoy them , I did!

Ps. I am saving some absolutely awesome pics for the next up and coming antelope hunt with a really good buddy who is also a member of this forum !

You sir are a gentleman, and selflessly shared a lot of information with me that helped tremendously on my hunt. That tire was one of the craziest things I've ever seen as it sailed past my passenger side as I drove down the shoulder. Divine intervention is right...that tire was on a crash course for the cab of your truck and took a high bounce.

Nice buck...glad your hunter got it done and hopefully some of the information I shared from my hunt helped you out as well. I'm not good at identifying specific bucks..maybe that's one I saw too. Good luck on the rest of your hunts.

Sir Royal ,I need a spare for My truck. Did You save that one. I will be down in 4 weeks from yesterday. If I scout 2-3 days that should be enough ,after waiting 19 years for the tag. Glad You didn't get hit by that tire. Somebody's watchin out for You. Again congrats to the Hunter and You ....................BOB!

You guys are not gonna believe this one . This afternoon I'm driving back from Chino Valley and a guy hauling tires is in front of me and one flies off . I tried to swerve but ran it over. Unbelieveable! That's was a 1/2 mile from last time! I Live amongst REDNECKS! YIKES!!!

I floored it got ahead of him and motioned him over to make sure I had no damage. I was good. Lucky for him. Chuckle chuckle!

Road Hazards but then I have put almost 31,000 miles on my new dodge already!

Hmmm dodge if it would've been a Ford or Chevy hmm, makes you wonder!Lol!
