Does anyone use “off brand” trail cams from Amazon?

Recommended Posts

There are a ton of trail cameras on Amazon that seem to have a lot of good features, comparable reviews to the big names and much cheaper. Has anyone used any of them? Any real reviews?

Nobody? Come on, somebody must have used one

At $47 maybe you can be the guinea pig for us and give us a report! 😎

I thought about trying them a time or two. But Amazon will have a Stealth cam G30 drop down on price for $74 from time to time. Haven’t had one fail me yet. I got one that’s been in a canyon looking for bears 24/7 for 3-4 years now. That’s my go to cheap cam. Add in an SD card and cable and your at $100. Kind of my limit for leaving something tied to a tree. I just don’t know if saving $25 is worth the hassle of finding out it failed on you a week after leaving it out.

This is what they look like. I can put three of them inside the Kali Fanny Pack so they are good size. They do good day and night pics, only real thing I've gotten on them is the bobcat. I'd have to get on my comp but I got some cool pics of a buzzard with his wings out on one. Lots of stupid cows and shade and wind but I like em. I dont put them out too much as I'm trying to get my buddy to make me some lockboxes for them but I put them out on my property and I love them. The screen on the inside is cool. You can put a passcode on them, can plug directly into the computer. These each came with a little aluminum stand, the strap (one in pic has an old dog collar cuz I left the strap at home). A cord to plug into the comp. I run a 64gb card in them but someone told me that can fry the cam so idk if that's true or not.

Wow, that screen on the inside is cool. Can you actually scroll and view the pics on that screen?

Yes you can view all pics and video from the camera itself and video also records audio, it has the speaker on the inside that you can kinda see. It has the side motion sensors that you can turn off and on, you can select video length. I have mine all set to different but the one that got the bobcat was 3 pictures and 10 seconds of video. I think max video is a minute I cant remember.

Heres some pics I just took of the menu options. I was wrong about max video length, it's actually 10 minutes not 1 minute. All of this is done straight from the cam, along with setting time and date. Time and date will need to be reset when cam is turned off but it's always nice to check it anyway. I love these cams. For the money imo they take real nice pics and video and it's nice being able to view everything right there. You can also do a mass delete of pics on the card or delete individual pics from the camera.

When you have it set to record video it will show the Play at the bottom and is shows how many pics. You cant zoom in on there though so like the last pic of the cedar rat, all I could see on the screen when i was out was the tail, so my first thought was coatimundi. But I like them
