New River/ Fig springs locked down

Recommended Posts

Just got the ranger fixed. Was going to Fig Springs to test it out.

Turns out it’s locked down. Shiny new locks and new signs up. Looks like someone bought it and blockaded the entrances.

kinda heartbroken.. loved that spot.

Jazz not familiar with this area. Did the new land owner block access to BLM or NF beyond his land or did he close off his own land as a destination?

Im thinking he just locked down his property. It's owned by "Fig Springs Ranch LLC" according to the Maricopa County parcel web site. It's bordered by state and forest land. I don't think there's any actual named roads going thru it. It was a great place to explore- lots of deer. One of the only water sources in the area.

There are still roads from the east to get there

And that’s why they can close it off like that, still access from another point. The only time they cannot is if that entry point is the only access to BLM or NF land.

Or if they're blocking access to a mineral claim, no can do.

Not true in AZ, down in 35B land owners have blocked access to the NF
