As much as we all hate wildfires and the damage they do to wildlife, they will come back, return.... that orchard and homestead is 150+ years old. Not to mention the magnificent tree they must call “medusa mother’s tree” that I took this photo with in 2014. One they are destroyed they do t come back.   I love travis ranch and I was very happy with the news

Dude I still remember that pic. You put a guess the location thread on here and then sent me a $10 sportsman’s card for getting it first.

I am glad they saved it. And in a year, the rest of that area will be coues heaven and actually glassable.

One potential silver lining.  That wilderness will be a very different place regardless!

Never been there, just heard the stories. How many trees are in it?

The second aftermath picture I posted above shows the orchard.

Just read on the Tonto Twitter page that the work done around the Reavis Ranch area was successful. They released the following pictures. Looks like the orchard is ok.

“....personnel are happy to report that mitigation efforts in the Reavis Ranch area, including the "Medusa Mother Tree", historic homestead foundation, old orchard, and Mexican spotted owl habitat were successful..”

Always wanted to go but I like to hike but not a touristy person where there is a constant flow of people. Maybe next year if my ankles get better and I can hike more than 3 or 4 miles a day.

I rarely see anyone in there Nov-Mar.

I posted a new thread but in case it gets overlooked.

I have a big chunk of property that can be used for any houndsmen who need a place to get them and their dogs out of there or anywhere that has an evac order open and they dont really know where else to go.

I say houndsmen because the property is not really suited for anything else. Horses or mules would need to be in corrals but it's still got some houses and chains for Hounds. I have spare houses around though that we could make it work. Theres prolly 25 t posts already pounded so all we would need is chains and we can figure out houses as we go but if anyone needs to get them and their dogs outta Dodge let me know. It's not much but it's better then trying to camp and move every 14 days lol.
