So 6th grade teachers are now the "experts" in ecology and "climate change"?

If you are relying on our current public education system to "educate" your children, you are failing as a parent.

However, since I am not an "expert" in these matters and I do not have an engineering degree to qualify me as a "scientist", please provide the fact based evidence you rely on for your opinion so that we can have a mature, adult discussion on the matter.

I do have more faith in the education system than you and trust the professionals that work with my child. That being said, I understand that our state’s K-12 is the most poorly funded state education system in the union, so I can appreciate your concerns with it. Moreover, I take an active role in my child’s education and have a good relationship with all her teachers. Lastly, I know some areas are worse off than the school district my child is in.

"It has been my observation than the more degrees involved, the less common sense is demonstrated. "

I have to pretty much agree with your comment. After all......does't a PHd = piled higher and deeper?

I have to admit that when I went to college centuries ago most of my college professors (that likely had PHd's) seemed to lack the common sense gene. It sounds even worse now days....and that is what scares me about what our youth are being taught, and the consequences going forward for our nation. We are moving closer to socialism as a consequence of this. When I was in grade school our teachers cautioned us about propaganda coming from Russia and China. Now we need to worry about propaganda coming from our own educators. By the way.....my deceased wife taught school for over 26 years and witnessed the educational changes first hand. I know if she was still alive she would agree with all I have quacked.

So, you "trust the professionals that work with your child". What exactly is the 6th grade teacher teaching your child regarding the topic at hand? What are his/her qualifications to do so on THIS particular subject? Do you supplement your child's education on this subject or simply accept the teachers information as fact?

If you do supplement your child's education, you are by action admitting and acknowledging that the education he/she is receiving is substandard or incorrect.

If you do not supplement his/her education, you are stating that your child is receiving a proper education by this 6th grade teacher. As such, you certainly should know this teacher's qualifications.

Out of curiosity, what degree(s) do YOU have?

Still waiting for you to post up your references for YOUR basis of opinion so that we can discuss this as rational adults. I really would like to know your point of view as a base of fact and not just an opinion.

Fittest in evolutionary terms does not always mean the strongest. The fittest elk could be one that behaviors differently like staying in cover more vs wide open spaces. Also, predatory influences affect fittest, so it could also be faster elk that is more fit in your scenario. Furthermore, it could well become the elk that are more resistant to CWD that are more. These are all hypotheticals, of course!

Speaking of 6th grade, who taught you how to punctuate?

Getting a little person dude! The science teacher has a Masters degree and they are learning about ecosystems right now. They are actually analyzing data about wolf introductions this week. I’ve looked it over and know the validity of the data due to my background in environmental biology. I carry several advanced  science degrees. What about you?

Asking you to support your opinion with facts is getting personal?

You didn't answer the question on whether or not you accept what is taught as FACT or if you supplement your child's education.

You also haven't provided any supporting evidence for your opinion.

My 6th grade teacher had 3 master's degrees and told me you are wrong. I have 7 PhDs so I know this to be true.

I love the internet.

I DID think this was a hunting forum though and not a comedy channel. Keep it up though as this is GREAT stuff.

Science works on what the data shows. The 6th graders are actually using data from the field to analyze trends. It may sound funny that they are being taught using authentic data, but many other parents and I think it’s great! Please read the science standards link I posted for more info. Let’s step back to the original post. I think the discussion of the graph presented has run its course. Thank you for your time and perspective 😀

Funny how the Irony in life.  I would say lots of people on the forum are so called professional hunters or semi professional.  But yet all alot of our tactics and ethics are different.  Just like in any field of professionalism, especially in the science community.  That is why Trophy hunter doesn't believe half the crap because its just one sided and all information is not given.  But we take it as doctrine, and if the celebrity's tell us its truth so it has to be right??       The only thing I heard from my teachers is go to school, get a degree, and work for a big company.  That is the best thing we can do right??  Well I didn't go to school, and I started my own business.  My entire family 4 siblings, mom, dad all graduated from ASU, brother MBA from Norte Dame and Im the only person who doesn't have a college degree but yet I own my own company.  The Irony!!

Wrong.

Data is ones and zeros. Ones and zeros are information only and are not facts in themselves.

Your statement claims that "science" is the data. That is also incorrect. "science" is the INTERPRETATION of data as that data is UNDERSTOOD. To claim that data is science and science is data is either ignorant or naive.

Furthermore, data can be skewed to support ANY conclusion as has been proven COUNTLESS times over the centuries. I am shocked you didn't learn this FACT during all of your education to obtain your "multiple degrees".  If the data "changes", change the narrative. Claiming otherwise is also ignorant or naive.

You are welcome to dismiss yourself from this conversation, but you have no authority to dismiss me. Your arrogance is almost as entertaining as your naivety.

I will accept your refusal to answer any of my simple questions as an acknowledgment that you have no viable answer. It's ok, we already know the truth of your "answers".

Buster,

Ok, so a simple question that even you shouldn't be afraid to answer.

Yes or no:

As a person with "several advanced science degrees", do you believe it is good to introduce a non-native apex predator into an eco-system?

This right here is how liberals are made.

Please do not display the ignorance of assuming my acknowledgment to anything that I didn’t say specifically. The data doesn’t lie, people do!

Here’s one that will blow your mind-

Now if I was a teacher, I’d never bring politics into the classroom, such as the lesson in the link. I would never disrespect a sitting president! That being said, this guy explains data and the manipulation of it very well!

Quote

I was actually raised liberal and became more conservative in life, so please do not make assumptions. You will not find a stauncher defender of the Constitution than me sir!

This is misquoted and was a response to gunsmith.

for such an "educated" person, you seem to lack basic reading comprehension. I never "assumed" anything. I ACCEPTED your refusal to answer as an answer in itself. Your silence speaks volumes and your refusal to answer tells us everything we need to know.

Thank you for acknowledging that you lie, but your actual acknowledgment of this was unnecessary as it has already become obvious.
