Goldwater lake

Recommended Posts

Taking the 5 and 7 year old to Goldwater lake this time for some fishing this weekend Was going to go after trout with power bait and crappie tubes.  Anyone recommend a specific color/scent powerbait?  Is lower or upper lake typically better this time of year? Don’t care about big fish just trying to get the kids to catch something.

Dress them kids warm , I've snuck in to the back end of the lake with the mules and tossed a fly a few times with little luck.

Didnt I see a big 6 lb trout come out of there last year?

Power Eggs are just as good as Power Bait and a lot less mess and don't come off the hook. Chartrues works well as does orange. On the bottom about 12-18" above a split shot ot mealworms under a bobber.

With stockers we  always kill it with the pautzke pink shrimp eggs when lots of others are catching little to nothing with powerboat and or worms.  We use the small prettied treble hooks with a piece of splitshot to hold up the egg sinker to create a longer leader.

It’s all about the power eggs. And if it ain’t chartreuse it ain’t no use

Fished for 3 hrs in the morning, not one bite.  Used chartreuse garlic power bait, tried orange power eggs, spinners, and crappie tubes.  Maybe too cold?

guy fishing near us caught a nice  about 18” rainbow though and  said he was using chartreuse garlic powerbait same as us.

still had fun though, always nice to see some water when you’re from Tucson!

I use an ultralight setup with 4# or 6# PLine Floroclear line.
