I'm not a prospector, but I run into them a lot. Will all the fire and rain in Tonto cause gold to surface?

Floods can expose gold's host rock and move fine placer. The term for recent recharging of streams and washes with the shiney mineral is 'flood gold.'

Fires certainly help accessibility.

Tonto is moving back to stage 1 fire restrictions. Forest will be reopened Friday July 31st 8am.

I have talked to several people going up and they all thought fires were allowed in the forest now. Please realize they opened the forest back up to the public but the Stage I fire restrictions are still in place.
