Quail loads

Recommended Posts

I drove along the AZ.P. Canal this morning, I lost count of the hundreds of quail in the first couple miles. Not yet spooky which raises the question, what's your favorite quail medicine? I think I'm going with a #6.

Usually the 6’s work best early season for skillet shots.

Yup and later in the season when they're more distant?

Did pretty well last year with Federal HI-bird in #6 shot. Probably using the same this year.

I’ve always gone 6 or 7 1/2 in the long range. Let’s meet up and hit it?

I'm heading out Fri morning north of your house, east of mine

I hate losing cripples.  I only use 6 on quail, save the 7 1/2 for dove as I can catch them when they’re  not dead.  Freaking quail have gone down snake holes, rabbit holes , into prickly pear from heck. And some just do the Houdini and vanish! Love it when you see the head fold  and they bounce on impact, heads up on the landing means “ move it or lose it!”
