Recreational Trail Camera use is at Stake!

Recommended Posts

I think g&f selling out and paying celebs to come showcase OTC hunts has a waaaaaay bigger negative impact on our hunting heritage then a guide running 250 cams.

Delw, I just admitted to being a fanboy. For the right reasons though!

But i swear to god i would never do that crap.

HAHA I just reread what you wrote , I didnt imply that you did .

I dont understand the fanboy attitude on anything like ie football fishing hunting etc etc, gotta be a case of low self esteem, penis envy or something like that. doesnt make any sense why a grown man wants to be a cheerleader for someone.

Well gee wiz, Seems you brought my name up again so I in turn chose to be petty yet again.   No never killed a muley, but never hunted one either.  Never killed a bull either, only 3 lowly peasant cow elk with my lowly peasant over the counter tags. How many Oct elk you got? Oh none probably because your busy hunting private property.   Wish I could kill big deer on private property and swing my dick around.

Maybe if I had access to Priveliged acres ranch in Kansas I could kill a muley or an eastern.  Anytime you want to learn how to hunt big coues on public land, id be happy to take you out.

You can’t even keep 15s long enough to show me how to hunt. You sell em. You also don’t even have enough time to get out to show me. I hunt more than 2 weeks boy. Like I said I don’t give a dang about you and I’ll stop commenting on this thread. Hopefully you don’t get stranded down south anytime soon cause I’ll drive on past you.

They all start that way. But before long guides figure out that there really are no rule because our game and fish Dept relies on the honor system for enforcement.

when it’s your livelihood people do what they need to do to take care of them selves and their family.

guides have ruined hunting.

I see two results:

1. lack of competition in the guiding industry.  This rule is going to hit the small/part-time guys and start ups way more than it will the big outfitters with full time staff.  Trail cams are vital to guys that have to scout around full time jobs

2. We’ll probably see more younger bucks/bulls getting tagged, maybe even an uptick in overall success rates.  It’s not that hard to pass on a 2 yo 3x3 buck or a little raghorn bull when you’ve got a bunch of pictures of bigger boys on your phone.  Those smaller critters are a lot more tempting when you have no idea what else is around.

if guides are really the problem, I don’t see why they can’t pass laws that specifically pertain to them.  There’s a vast difference between a weekend/recreational hunter and someone that’s conducting commercial activities on public land and consuming public resources

My .02 is This is a great win (the first in a long time) for the animals, habitat and even many hunters. This was never a problem until the privilege of using trail cams became abused (mostly by guides). I would have voted for a season or ban either way, but if you want to be upset about it, be upset about with those that have abused it to make in an issue.

The Carefree Clowns are lazy and stupid.  They want to take the easy way out and just ban everything.  It is hard for a socialist to think outside the box.  They know that the average Joe Hunter is too busy to do much complaining.  🤮

My guess is too many ways around it if you allow for some and not others and harder to enforce. This one feels pretty cut and dry this way. The guide that started this is already working on a loophole with birders or whatever. Good lord.

Actually Im not I always try to be as honest and obey the law as much as possible. Be careful who judge until you see both sides.

I am not the sharpest stick in the pile but I can see whats coming. Also if I was going to hire someone like a birdwatcher why would I tell the world. Duh!

I dont make a living as a guide, I have a great day job running my own company. I only  do 2 or 3 guiding stints a year to get me in the woods more! No pressure just fun helping somebody who wants a little extra help. I help lot more people than I guide and I dont use a posse.

I stand corrected, you only share platforms for other guides to break the law in order to garner support to overturn the law that you yourself do not break. I apologize for misrepresenting you sir.

I mentioned it in another of the 'camera ban' threads a couple days ago, but several years ago a longtime member here brought up the abuses that were already occurring with ATVs & cameras along with possible abuses drones could bring. He implied the abuses were perversions of their intended use. Given what has happened since then, that comment was pretty accurate.

Actually I stand alone on what I believe is fair and right!

I don’t agree with you SirRoyal.  But I have some respect for you.  I know in order to have the title Sir, you must have done a few things right.  Most I hear about are accomplished in the arts, theatre, medicine and things like that.  Do you mind sharing with us your story?  Have you seen the Queen since the Knighthood ceremony?

I did contact the Phx commissioner by email the other day, told him I support either outright ban or very limited season.  My email was based on the following beliefs..

  1.   Camera use has gotten way out of control and extents beyond fair chase principles especially by some or most (not all) professional guides.
  2. I do not believe that game on AZ private land should be "marketed" by guide outfits especially on the strip.
  3. The outcome will be that some will break the law, this is always the case in some form, reduced hunting pressure especially from the out of state hunter and especially on the strip and consequently hopefully point creep will be slowed.
  4. I support the idea that those that want to hunt can put boots on the ground to make it happen and those who want to look at pictures can do so on instagram.
