  1. Long story short. Was solo hunting and was out the last morning I could hunt. Glassed him up across a small canyon about 600 yds away. Packed up quick and closed the distance to what I figured was a spot about 200 yds from where I spotted him last. Got set and after an anxious 1/2 hour, relocated him about 150 yds to the left of where I thought he'd be. Ranged him and 185 and made perfect shot. I knew he was good but didnt want to get too worked up about the rack so I purposely didnt study it too closely with my Vortex Razor 12 x 50s. So I was pumped to see that nice drop tine when I went up to him. Ill mount him and will be off to the taxidermist this morning.
  2. Just got one today. Pretty cool to walk up on it and see the band. Reported it right then with my iPhone. Got the certificate and history of the bird while still hunting. Was funny after that bird we were all " disappointed " when collecting our dove when none of them had bands. Lol.
  3. that's Deans normal turn around time. I don't think he has a army of guys. Back in the Ol days, when you had a mount done, it was actually done from A to Z by the proprietor of the establishment. The back of my shoulder mount is signed by the late great John Doyle. He was a great artist and was proud to sign his work, sure it took longer but, having an original by an original is worth the wait. I believe that's what Dean believes. Or maybe he took it in late?! Yea. Took me awhile to get it ordered up and paid. Once I knew the way I wanted it, it was only a few months to completion.
  4. Used Lippert / Doyle taxidermy in Tucson. Couldn't be happier.

What's a good bino power for the woods?

I use Leupold 8 X 32's in Elk Country. I think 10's would be too much. I'm usually only glassing 100 to maybe 300 yds at the very most like across a meadow or something.

    5b South early archery cow

Taken 2 cows on that same hunt in previous years. Get away from the pavement and you will find Elk. They have always seemed to be real active very early morning in there....running all over the place, probably hunting pressure I'll bet. Good luck!

    Vortex Viper 15 X 50 binoculars

I have had non HD's for a couple seasons......edges are not very clear.....keep 'em in my pack and use 'em like a spotting scope to double check things I glass up with my 10's which are way clearer and brighter with like 4x's the field of view. HD's were a BIG improvement. Pass up on the non HD's.

    December Archery Muley

Great job, both of you. Really enjoyed the video. I took a cow Elk with shwackers, I'd like to put one into a deer.
