The best meat a chef has to offer is never frozen or packaged. Its just kept in a cool area and allowed to age as previously mentioned. If the temp is right, it will not dry out.

+1 to this topic. There seems to be a lot this year. Read the g&f and get out and scout. If you don't have time to scout then either budget for a guide or don't put in for a hunt and expect to bag a B&C. It's AZ people.....check the fricken water holes on a forest service map and carry some binos. I know our sponsors will rent them too.
My 2 favorite units I came to know and love through a map and hiking on opening day.

YES! I like this town already!A small town in Colorado is considering an ordinance that would create a license and bounty for hunters to shoot down drones.
"We do not want drones in town," Phillip Steel, the Deer Trail, Colo., resident who drafted the ordinance, told Denver's ABC7 affiliate. "They fly in town, they get shot down."
Steel's proposal, recently submitted to the town board, calls for a $25 drone hunting license and outlines "rules of engagement" for hunters looking to shoot down the unmanned aerial devices:
The Town of Deer Trail shall issue a reward of $100 to any shooter who presents a valid hunting license and the following identifiable parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle whose markings and configuration are consistent with those used on any similar craft known to be owned or operated by the United States federal government.Steel said that while he's never seen a drone flying in Deer Trail, the ordinance is a "symbolic" one.
"I do not believe in the idea of a surveillance society, and I believe we are headed that way," he said.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Deer Trail's population was 559 in 2011.
"They'll sell like hotcakes," Steel said of the proposed drone license. "It could be a huge moneymaker for the town."
David Boyd, one of Deer Field's seven board members, supports the drone ordinance.
"Even if a tiny percentage of people get online (for a) drone license, that's cool," Boyd said. "That's a lot of money to a small town like us. Could be known for it as well, which probably might be a mixed blessing, but what the heck."
There's even talk of the town—which claims to be home to "the world's first rodeo"—hosting the world's first drone hunt. "A skeet, fun-filled festival," town clerk Kim Oldfield said.
The board will consider the drone hunting ordinance on Aug. 6.

I had elk rib meat from a pressure cooker 2 years ago during thanksgiving, some of the best I've ever had. Between the meat, onions, potatoes etc it was great. didn't even know it was elk until after the fact. With the amount of meat vs time it was clearly more trouble than what it was worth.

My second elk hunt was an archery 5A tag. Over the course of 3 days I called in 6 different 6pt bulls.....I missed all 6 of them haha. Last one was at 30yards....string caught my shirt and deflected the arrow. I am a little more proficient now. It was one of my favorite hunts though with my old man. Lots of good memories made that trip.
Did it really take you 10 years to draw a 5A tag?

I am still waiting on my Super Chief to roll out haha

Am I wrong or does that tree in the background make it look like that deer is a big 4x4??? First glance I was thinking ooooooh, but on closer inspection I think its not a 4x4 but rather a 3x3! Regardless a nice deer but what a sneaky tricky picture. That's funny, this whole time I was thinking it was a 4x4....not that the deer isn't huge but I would not have noticed it

Looks like I drew one of the 50 tags for the 39 40a and 40b December Muzzy hunt!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!Did your card got hit today?
Congrats on the tag!

If you are not going to hire a guide then set some cams. If you don't know where the bison are at the just focus on your deer tag. If I had the $$ I would definantly be contacting lance. My cousin shot a bison a few years back on his Kiabab hunt. It was pure luck. He's the only one I know of that has landed a bison without a guide during a deer hunt there. Congrats on the tag!
