I bet they were just thinking how ther never is a cop around when you need one! LOL -
Keith has expressed a lot of my reactionary ideas on this what to to to this person. I will add a few more. She could also be sent a bill for maintenance on the road over the past decades. If she cannot pay, take the land from her. At the very least, She could be put in jail the way the military guy was who held illegal mexicans at gunpoint. After all she held LEGAL US Citizens for no reason. I am not familiar with the area, but maybe we could get together a LARGE group of sportsmen and hold a target shoot 1/4 mile and 2 inches from her home. Shooting day and night! Maybe a little spotlight action around the perimeter of her land too! Set up signs indicating that she might be sympathetic and render aid to illegal aliens and other outlaws. I would assume this to be true, since she is sympatetic to child molestors. I would like to find a way to put a lien on the land and kick her off permanently. She may create a problem for herself is she runs into an upset person who is not tolerant of her attitude.

Last week, Jay Leno was interviewing people on the origins of Memorial day. I could not believe how many people were clueless on the holiday. I would bet this group is well informed, but will share this anyway. The internet really does make information easy to share! and I Hope this information helps someone out there understand the meaning of the holiday. "Memorial days" were set aside during the American Civil War in both the United States and the Confederate States of America. Following the Civil War, various communities started having memorial services for the war dead. Memorial day began around the time of the civil war. Abraham Lincoln in the late fall of 1863 feared that he might be the last president of the United States, which was a nation embroiled in what he described as "a great civil war. He began his now famous remarks as he stood on a battlefield in Pennsylvania on November 19th of that year. The speech that became known as Lincoln's Gettysburg Address turned into what might be called the first observance of Memorial Day. Lincoln's purpose that day was to dedicate a portion of the battlefield as a cemetery for the thousands of men, both living and dead, who consecrated that soil in the sacrifice of battle. Said Abraham Lincoln: "That from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause which they gave the last full measure of devotion...that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom..." In 1865, Henry C. Welles of New York, began promoting the idea of decorating the graves of Civil War veterans. He gained support of the others and they evantually made "Decorations" for each veteran's grave. In 1868 (Three years after the Civil War ended) Union veterans established "Decoration Day" as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. It is commonly believed the Msy 30th date was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country. The first large observance was held that year at Arlington National Cemetery, across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C. The ceremonies originally centered around the mourning-draped veranda of the Arlington mansion, once the home of Gen. Robert E. Lee. After various speeches, children from the Soldiers? and Sailors? Orphan Home and members of the GAR made their way through the cemetery, strewing flowers on both Union and Confederate graves, reciting prayers and singing hymns. In 1966, the federal government declared Waterloo, New York, the official birthplace of Memorial Day. They chose Waterloo because the town had made Memorial Day an annual, community-wide event during which businesses closed and residents decorated the graves of soldiers with flowers and flags since May 5, 1865. By the late 1800s, many communities across the country had begun to celebrate Memorial Day and, after World War I, observances also began to honor those who had died in all of America's wars. In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day a national holiday to be celebrated the last Monday in May. In 1971 Memorial Day was declared a national holiday by an act of Congress, (though it is still often called Decoration Day) and It was also placed on the last Monday in May. By the end of the 19th century, Memorial Day ceremonies were being held on May 30 throughout the nation. It was not until after World War I, however, that the day was expanded to honor those who have died in all American wars. Fianally, remember the Fallen Veterans today. We live and enjoy those things that they died for.

Official Dog Picture Thread
az4life replied to BASS's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Oh my gosh! What a pose! Trooper almost looks "human". And starting the thread with Charlie... well I am still laughing about that one. "Caption this photo" should be what we do with the best of these Dog Thread pictures! Charlie's "Budget cuts force Border Patrol to alter requirements for new recruits" Trooper seesn to be saying "OK, I will pose for your picture again!" -

Neat story in pictures. Thanks That is what I would like to have as a hunting rig. Sort of keep my eye open for one but they are rare and somwhat pricey if they are in decent shape. does it have the 4 cyl? is it (engine) original form the same year? -
I have taken about 10 coues bucks over the years and helped others with as many or more. I almost get more enjoyment showing others the way to find these deer than taking one myself. (almost) Anyway, I have tagged some nice ones but really take pleasure in rating the whole hunt. Generally rate my whole hunt instead of the antlers. I have seen some big ones but never taken a monster that I felt worthy of mounting.

Billrquimby I read that story too. Funny thing is I was in a Dr office reading a hunting magazine! Took the magazine into the exam room and kept reading when the Dr was doing the preliminary Q & A . She had to make me put it down. Then I went out into the waiting room and finished it! Points? What Points? Elk 0 (drew 6a w/ 0 points in 2001 and have not put in since) wetmule, where are you putting in to miss and have 14 points? Deer 1 (Skunked in the draw last year) Heck, I recall when I could put in to several areas and never miss a draw! Not any more! Missed getting drawn about 4 times in the last 12. People quit putting in for my areas will ya! Lopes 0 (go to Wyo, They are thick as can be everywhere) Buff, Sheep Never have....
-
Super! Now your hopes are on getting drawn in that area!
-
Thanks for the update Amanda. How about the cost of those new design water catchments compared to other units? Possibilty for other areas? Curious What areas were toured?

I agree with you on that. So many times it is the lesser of evils when you enter the voting booth. I just look at the candidates and evaluate their positions. Tho one who has the least positions that I just cannot accept in any way, gets my vote. Moderate dems have a chance with me in that scenario. I urge everyone to look at the candidates long term history and current trend on positions. Flip Flops are a waste of my vote. I will give anyone a chance to change their mind but more than one time means (at least to me) they are pandering and putting on a show for votes.

I bet that lock where he caought it is full of fisherman this weekend! Looking for his big brother!

I will not vote for him again! He defies the "conservative" platform of the party so often he ought to just join the Liberals. He has seen that he can do whatever he wants to, and the Republican base continues to re-elect him due to thier short term memories. Fact is, there does not seem to be alot of difference in what the Dems and Reps do when they get into office. Promises and pledges are twisted and taken out of context to suit their own needs and ambitions. Reps borrow from the future to pay for pork, and the Dems just Tax and spend. The reall truth is WE ALL will pay for it in the future one way or another. McLame was on Fox News Sunday Morning last week and the interview closed on a few lighter points. They mentioned how Trent Franks warned McCain that if he jumped ships and moved to support Dems on this issue, he would pay for it later. McCain said he hears stuff like that all the time and basically is not worried. He then followed up with an answer about how he has not rulled out running for President in 2008. He can kiss my vote goodbye! What a traiter. Jane Fonda McCain! You can bet I will not watch his "I can spit on my country, cause I am better than you" movie on A&E this weekend. Maybe I will have to pull out some real war hero movies... John Wayne! Vote McCain out ! He is a party traiter and will sucker us again if we don't stop him! Maverick needs to be put out to pasture. It IS time for a McCain Mutiny!

Watching it too! Sad to see things turn out the way it has for the last 2 games. Hope they kick SA all over the place the next 4 games!

Last hunt, my hunting partner and I dropped 2 bucks about 3 miles back in a canyon over a mountain etc..... 1st trip we took his out (he carried it on his back w/o a pack) and I carried rifles scopes, binos, jackets etc, and as much gear as I could. 2 hours later we got back up the mountain and I threw mine on my shoulders and he carried a rifle and the rest of the gear. Anyway I was able to carry mine out in the same time, and with the same # of rest breaks (4 or 5 I think). He is a power company lineman and does lots of phys labor, and I have an office job. I compare my "in shape" rating to how well he did and I came out alright. I may have to try the Billrquimby method though, since the over the scariest part of the "over the shoulders carry" is worrying about falling and puncturing your own lung with an antler!

Dittos... Great job!

Scott Looks like you got a pretty good "lean" going on there. The one good thing about hiking UP intoi yoru hunt zrea is that you have a lot of DOWN once you fill the tag! Like Brian suggested, the downhill is hard on the knees so there is a trade off. I look at it this way, My health insurance is so bad that I have to do my own cardio test while I am out hunting deer. If Make it up that big hill inless than an hour, keeping my pulse under 180 and not passing out or blowing chunks... that means I pass! I always think about the stories when guys get injured while hunting alone so I try to keep myself out of those situations. Decent shape an dknowing your limitations is key. I am surprised no one has said they stay in shape by climbing mountains in th off season. Afterall that is the way most of my coues trips turn out. 50% hunting, 50% glassing, 50% mountain climbing, 50% glassing, 50% mountain climbing, 50% glassing, 50% mountain climbing, 50% glassing, 50% mountain climbing.... Hey guys. this is better than waiting on those Star Wars sequal prequals. Keep em coming!
-
Cool! Soiunds like you found a hot spot for bucks!
-
Very interesting. Especially that last one. Were these gathered over a recent period or over several seasons.
-
Getting old IS not for wimps! I know what you mean. 44 and counting! Anyway, I hate health clubs and my knees do not take running on pavement since 3 years ago, so For me, Summer time is Cheap golf and the Bargain rates and hot temps keep me sweating on the course a lot of the summer. I think the exposure really helps tune me up gradually for the season. I just got in from playing 27 holes and feel great. My Serious Deer season prep for me starts about 2-3 months before heading out. I try to combine my serious prep with serious scouting. I am not be the guy in the best shape but on the hunt I can keep up with most other hunters. Still looking for that magic pill that keeps me in top shape without moving a muscle!
-
Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. It definitely is frustrating not knowing what the oroblem is. ER's really are not a fun thing to do.
-
Monster, Welcome to the site. Sure you will find this to be a Super place for hunting information and stories. Lots of good folks here so share when you can.

I may have to take a trip back to 6A to get a shot at a lion. Just so happens that is the unit where one almost had me for lunch in 2001! Seriously, aside from my encounter, the entire hunt trip we saw lion tracks several times in the same general area. I might have to go up and try to call one in. 6a might be a good unit to put in for coues too! maybe bag a lion during scouting and a nice buck later. OK.. I know I know... But a guy has to set his sights high, right?

Wetmule Funny thing is while my wife was in the waiting room and then in the treatment room, she said she felt bad that I was going to miss the meeting. She said to go ahead and go. Yeah right. You folks probably would have questioned my sanity if I did that! Okay, you might question that anyway... Not sharing a lot of details now, but she has been to the several times this year and this week was a particularly bad week. 6 hours waiting in an ER Monday night plus 3 hours in the exam room started things off wrong. Wen to a different ER and spent 2 hours waiting and 4 hours in exam. She had more tests and DR appts Today and Friday but no one can pin down the real problem. Major furstrating for both of us! Anyway I will look for the minutes on the site. Okay, I just found them but only through Feb 2005.? Lots of good info and insight into the core members and the issues as a recap for someone interested. God willing, I will make it to a future meeting!
