If I was in your spot right now, I would search the posts for "unit 23" and also go to the website for the AZGFD and look at the unit write up. Then head out and see as many spots as you can, as often as you can. After you have narrowed down your possibilities to a few, re-post some of what your thought are and I am fairly certain someone will let you know if you are on the rigth track, or help you decide on the best option of your group of possibilities. Forest service officers sound as bad as some of those rent-a-cops. Power trips are their daily vacation from reality. When they are off duty, they probably spend ALL their free time at trekkie conventions.

Bird hunting is a problem for lots of us! I have been peppered more than once and I generally yell something rather nasty back when it happens. Deer hunting and camo jsut seem to go hand in hand. Using UV killer may be in the mind, but I feel it works. I agree that movement will get you seen fast whatever you are wearing, but waving a glowing flag is easier to spot thatn a flat color flag. Preference but if it makes a person feel more confident, it is a good thing for whatever reason I think.

I think the internet is probably here to stay on the apps. Figuring the labor and time saving plus the convenience, it would be hard to walk away from it. If everyone had to pay up front it would be better, but we would likely be fined for not being fair to those living in caves (without internet access)

Thanks for the update. Sounds like they did it a bit more like a town hall meeting? Was it stated if they would post minutes of the various meetings on the AZGFD website? Any input from attendees at the other sites meetings?

Rangefinders are the way to go. I do however try to use it in the field BEFORE I really need it. That is to say, while scouting, or hiking, take the Rangefinder along, and pick out spots that you guess the range. Then verify the real range with the "cheater". Just like shooting, the more you practice, the better you will get with ranging your targets. Lots of practice this year since I didn't get drawn, but hey, give some others a chance!

Great Ideas on haveing the NR hunters wear it! Personally, I use the camo blaze orange on a hat when there are other hunters in the area. I also treat it with the UV killer spray so it does not "glow" to the animals sight. Wearing some sort of bright color is my norm when packing out an animal like others have said.

Treestandman You best be carefull with that Bo Acosta dude. Sounds like he may be trying to pin a lot more on you! I can see it now, we will be paying permit fees and fines for the Cause and effect of the willow wildfire. Maybe he thinks the Fire was started when your camera flash was reflected off of the morning dew on a rock near the camera, and the relection was bounced off the bottom of a nearby empty Bud Light Can. then it reflected into a passing deer's eyes and caused him to flee the area which in turn he started a small rockslide. Several of the rocks smashed together and sparked the wildfire. We better start the legal fund collection now!

Dbackaz You are correct and I hoe that the current case in Wyoming is the contrary ruling! We were told that there is a similar c ase going on now that could be in the 10 circuit before long. Lets all Hope they don't want to follow the lead of the 9th circus court of raw deals.

Mike I think you do have a good tage with the summer burn behind you! Dec should be great and the additional minerals shouldhelp the rack growth. Maye you could even get a better deer than without the burn.. Aside from a few smaller burns a few years ago to the right side of the highwya past rye, I cannot think of any burns up there recently. Al Sounds like you covered some ground and had a productive day! It is probably a good thing I stay away from that unit. With all the IAs as you call them, I think I might take the law, (protecting my country and state borders) into my own hands. They just tick me off, since they don't do it legally.

Diamondbackaz Just to echo your point, a poorly written letter rambling from point to point and insult to insult and un-intelligible thoughts are no fun to read. It is like trying to read a bad book. In the July 16 meeting I saw reactions from board members and interested people in the audience when the many less than articulate (putting it nicely) people got up and whined about something that was already answered. Face it, Eyes glaze over when you have to sift through the muck to find the point. There was one guy who must have been given a quarter to buy a big word that he obviously did not know the meaning or proper use of. Keep it Simple, and it will be more effective. In school I was once told that In Fashion terms, Short letters should be: Like a Lady's Skirt Long enough to cover the subject but short enough to keep it interesting. Yes to both. Depends on time of day and conditions. Always consider the thermal air movements. Morning as the sun warms up the hillsides the air rises, so being higher is better when possible. I usually like to find a couple spots and slowly work them through the day to make use of the prevailing winds, sunshine / shade and visability. Different terrain will require differenct methods, so good luck.

Muskeg The real Problem is the LAWYAHS... They are the scourge of the country! IMHO most of them are incredibly similar to a black hole surrounded with a sphincter muscle. (sorry for the graphic image butt lawyers just plain suck) They are the ones who control the flow of all things bad in the judicial system and all that trickles down to John Q Public. I may be taking your comment different than your intent, but As far as your comment about seeing that not everyone is happy with the AZ draw system, you need to re-read the posts from the last 3 weeks! I think you will find almost 100% are happy with the way it ws. This includes all but a very small minority of non residents. No sytem will ever satisfy EVERY person's wishes, so the best we can hope for is one that satisfies the VAST Majority As the current (past) AZ system was.

2 years in a row, In late Dec hunt, I stalked to within 20 yards. One time was a group of several does and a small buck. Another time was a pair of does browsing on a hillside. Lots of times in my early years, I see them jump out only a few feet away but can't count those since I was not stalking them. As an average, in the terrain I hunt, anything less than 100yds and you are doing Extremely well.

I sent my list in too! Cannot make it to any of the meetings. If you can attend, do so, but if you cannot attend I would suggest all other CWD members submit their ideas in writing as well. Another Interesting Topic with a variety of opinions! Food for thought... "Legal & ethical" ? Generally one would think that these two words would be synonymous. BTW My open letter reply to GRIZ: Mr Montoya First, I read your email with an open mind! After comparison between the "facts" as you state in your letter, and the suit, plus the judges ruling related to the suit.... Your email does not influence me and my disdain for you and your company is nearly total. The lack of respect you show for MY state rights and fairness in distribution of MY state resources is totally vile. Your case was based on what YOU wanted, and not what was good for Hunting in general! I hope the USO boycott and continual pressure hunters from all over the country are applying on you and your sponsors drives you into financial ruin. From what I have heard your organization has no scruples and you throw out ethics when it comes to hunting so your loss will be our gain. You may have won this battle but you may not be around to see the end of the war.
