I'm in the same boat .. I shot a nice mule deer in 21 on 12/24. Arrow was a little to far forward and hit the shoulder. He couldn't use his front leg at all. Hit him that night and bumped him out of his bed the next morning and was never able to get back on him. Im still out pushing the hills when i have time to see if i can find him walking around or dead.

I have found a few in the past but really want to hit the ground running. When should i start looking?

No I LOVE them. Becuase of them I helped harvest 2 elk 3 deer and 2 pigs with in the last 4 months. This is my 2nd set and could use the money to fund other hunting addictions.
