Swarovski 10x25 Binos w/Harness and Case

thanks for the heads up, I will fix -
Get out and scout as much as possible, look for sign around water. Once you have found an area that is holding a decent population of birds try and locate their roost trees. From my experience, a flock of birds will usually have 2-3 possibly more trees they like to roost in. I usually tend to find them about 2/3 of the way up on a ridge but can be just about anywhere. I am usually out in the field 1-2 hours before sunrise trying to find a Tom in the roost and getting him to shock gobble. I like to use a owl or coyote call but have also had them gobble just from the sound of a car door. If they do not shock gobble after initial calling I will use my gobble call, that has worked many times to get them to gobble back. If you get a response from the tom more times than not he will continue to gobble off and on until he flies down from the roost. That will help you close the distance and get set up. Best advice I would have is to get in close but not to close, be patient and do not call to much. It can take time for a gobbler to commit and he may come in quiet so give it sometime. Practice, Practice and Practice some more on your calling, last thing you want to do is mess up a call and blow your shot at filling a tag. Like stated above, make sure you take your gun out and pattern it so you know your effective range. Good luck, our group did not draw this year, bummed!

Its Time To Change the Arizona Bonus Point System
PineCountryHunter replied to geoffsl's topic in The Campfire
Some people cant live with not drawing tags, I put in for archery bull every year and now have 15 points, 6 now for deer, if your going to put in for quality hunts your going to have to wait like everyone else, and for god sakes please stop using the stupid restaurant and grocery analogy. It does not equate to a random chance at a tag. I will be content this year with my OTC archery deer hunt and late October trip to the WMAT for some big browns. -
Same as the game camera ban 🤪 Honestly, as with the game camera ban, I have no idea how it would be enforced. My point was that if they really want to manage the population and give archers 20% then all deer success regardless of weapon type should be mandatory to report. Hard to manage without know how many are taken overall per year. I do not see how they can enforce it and I am sure there will be archers that "forget" to report given the quota allotment.
 -
SMH....how are you supposed to get accurate data if you only require archery hunters to mandatory report and dont require it for firearm hunts. This does not make any sense to me.

I ended up seeing 2 gobblers in 4 days of hunting and never got a response when i was calling or shock calling before sun up. was a tough frustrating hunt. Places I have hunted for many years and seen lots of birds where empty of any sign at all. oh well, might try and get up later in the hunt for a few more days

Proposed fall, spring hunt recommendations for 2022-2023 available for review

I would assume that mandatory reporting with be included in final regulations and required but we all know what happens when you assume -
Nothing yet for me.....looks like yet another year with no tag. 12 points was not enough for 3a/3c archery bull
 -
Once they go through all the applications and give all the youtubers the tags they put in for they will start the draw for us normal folk 😂
 -
Good luck everyone....hoping 12 points draws 3a/3c Archery

Late Season Archery Bull tag Unit 22N
PineCountryHunter replied to meatviabow's topic in Elk Hunting
Seems more likely you checked back in because facebook and instagram are down and you needed something to read while you pop a squat and change your tampon. -
Curious what unit you would pick for a DIY archery bull hunt. What unit do you think has better chance at trophy class bull and elk density? I am going to be putting in for one of these next year and I would think with 14 points should be in the bonus pass. I know both units very well and have helped others harvest bulls in both units. Just interested to see what everyone else would do.
 -
Better tome is primarily focused on quality of Bulls, rest doenst bother me to much. I can use my boots to get away from people and such. I would really love to draw that 23N early archery tag but thats looking like atleast another 10+ year wait unless i get really lucky
 -
ill be in 3c for the bull hunt in a few weeks, have to friends with tags this year. last year i was in 3c as well with one of my hunting partners and on elf everyday and harvested on the 7th day. just curious what unit people thinnk is better
 -
I know 23 very well but would take to long to draw…not interest in 9 or 10, don’t know a thing about those units. Rather stick to units I know
 -
4b monster bull from 2010 lol…..land of giants
 -
I don’t think I have enough points for that trophy unit!

With all the water and feed im guessing the animals are all pretty spread out and dont have to move around very much to fill their bellies and get a drink. I have had the archery cow hunt in there a few times but that was 10+ years ago. We were always on Elk on the north and east side of the mountain. Always had the best luck around the Nordic Center off 180 and the Herchdeffer (sp) Hills. also had good bugling near the Bear Jaw trailhead. We were also in elk near the campgorund on the south side of the peaks by the gas lines, forget what its called. Some other areas to check out would be the flatter transition areas north of Kendrick park and around the Bismark Lake trailhead on the east side of the peaks. Keep hiking and getting familar with the lay of the land. When they start talking you will have the knowledge from your scounting hikes to make it happen. good luck

Suns will be Playing 5 vs 6 tonight....with Scott foster officiating and being on the road it doesnt look good tonight. need balanced scoring effort from everyone and absolutely need to team rebound and eliminate all the careless turnovers. If suns can do that and get there offense flowing the have a chance, think they blew that chance in game 4 and 5 though honestly.

I am heading up to the White Mountains on Thursday and was wondering if anyone has fished Crescent lake this spring. curious how the fishing has been and if they had a Kill this past winter. I am assuming with the lack of winter we had it did not kill.
 -
I have heard the fishing for trout is good and would imagine that smallmouth have to be getting ready to spawn and should be biting. already been stocked and should be loaded with fish.
