Congrats, super looking bull and good job.

That's a great accomplishment, congratulations. Sitting quietly and motionless all day is tough, and in the moment to draw and wait, manage the emotional pump and shoot accurately is tough. Great job.

I was just up there this past weekend supporting my dad's cow elk tag and helping others find the bulls. Yes I saw some bulls chasing cows, I didn't see any cows interested. But the bigger bulls are still not there. It's just starting to get cold, the morning thermometer read between 33 and 38 daily for 3 mornings. There were five bugling on opening morning, and it faded to a lower volume over the next two days as hunters invaded their territory. We found one group that was a herd of about 15, the 6x6 herd bull was actively chasing the cows, but he wasn't muddy, and there were some smaller 5x's and 4x's and everything in between. I saw the herd two consecutive days and the herd bull was bugling. By mid morning, smaller bulls were herding with cows when the herd bull left them. On another occassion, I saw a 5x5 that was chasing four cows mid morning and he was a little muddy. The cows were not interest, and the cow calls just made them run, lol. Some pics I snapped below with a pocket camera, some in the 10x42 binos. The herd bull 6x6, big body but average antlers and the muddy 5x. Many other 5x and 4x's too. I hope my buddy takes one of these bulls this week. Good luck everyone.

Congrats to everyone with posted bow kills, and to those that tried but came up short; but of course just getting outdoors and hunting anything is success in itself. I got a small one on a solo hunt, but it's my first with a bow so I'm psyched. Quartering towards me at around 9:00a, I shot him at 30 yards while sitting in a blind, it pierced both lungs and he sprinted non-stop and expired about 300 yards later. There are some other trail cam pics posted from earlier in the year with his bigger buddy and one hard-horned one from late April, plus a muley bachelor group of 4x4's. On opening day, I got a shot at the bigger coues buck, but he jumped the string and it sailed over his back - looks like he failed to train his buddy in this tactic. I'm glad the season and obsession is over so I can focus on other areas of life; well, I mean doves, elk, quail and predators.

Congrats! That's a long time in the stand, glad it paid off - good story and good shots.. good looking deer.

My girlfriend has her first rifle cow tag here, we may do a scout this weekend and I'll share the info. Good luck.

Very nice mature deer, and stalking up on a coues buck is a great accomplishment. Experiencing it with pops is even better. Nice open country, I hope to help my dad get a coues buck in the rifle open country in the fall.

Incredible story and amazing DIY accomplishment, congrats. -
hard horned bulls and couple of nice bucks

Nice deer and elk pics. For the deer coat, I think it's just regular shedding as I'm seeing the same thing on both muleys and coues - like this small one, it's disappointing as the entire neck has the bare spots and wouldn't look good on a mount. I never thought of passing on a buck before just because of bad cape hair.. no, I'd shoot. -
Very impressive work: congrats.

Experiment on my predator rifle

Nice job.. I need to do the same, on mine I rolled on some non-stick army digital tape on the barrel and stock for now until I can get it dipped. Your camo could increase your kill ratio by ~10% -
DONT PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET!!!
Atypical replied to arizonaelitefreak's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Good point, like a good financial portfolio - diversification can be good for hunt spots against weather changes. This past July, one cam location was producing groups of bucks appearing about every three days, then with the storms there was 12 days with nothing, but they've been returning thankfully. Good luck. -
Best wishes for a healthy and speedy recovery.. good to get 'er done before the hunt season.

Anybody Hunting AZ Bear this Week?
Atypical replied to Black Bare's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I passed a truck today parked along the side of a steep mountain with a big CWT sticker on this white pickup truck. A guy was glassing with his two boys and said someone had shot a bear and was retrieving it. So, someone on here got one = Congrats to whomever it was, hope to see a pic and a story soon. -
Funny, you got Handi-Cow, I think I have the same cow, just without the tumor. It's always by itself, and the bum leg looks longer than the other one. But I do know that there's no big coues deer around there Actually, it would be better if it was a big coues buck instead of handi cow. Good luck.

The Gunner worked 30 minutes to land this 19lb 40.5 inch pike at Ashurst Lake this weekend. He used a top water lure from the shore and it was around mid-day. A few other big ones were caught that day, but not a lot of action. Woohoo.

I have the Swaros and I also had them tip over on me from a lite tripod this last Jan2010.. nothing was visibley broke but I could not see through themat all. I mailed them to Swaro and they fixed them at no charge and mailed them back, I was pleasantly surprised. Enjoy the celebration of new 'gear'.

Congrats, absolutely great to get another type of hunting under your belt, now you an help others get started too.. like the easterners .

Good to hear about the experiences... I tried it once and a yote came in within 20 seconds, and then with Javy's, after walking into a group of them and when spooked, i blew lightly into the j-13 and they spooked further and ran .. I think AZP&Y/Doug hurt himself by busting a gut laughing so hard.
